Susan Mildred Bagby. Susan was born in Kanawha County, Virginia, on August 7, 1820. The date of her death is unknown, but she was buried in Bull Cemetery which is between Jefferson City and Bloomfield, Mo. Susan's mother, Sarah, whose maiden name is unknown, was presumably born in Virginia about 1793. Sarah's husband was Isham Bagby who had probably died before Sarah moved her family to Missouri in the late 1830's. The census lists the following children: Richard, Grace, John, Robert, Elizabeth, Susan, and several others. After James disappeared, Susan married Stephen Plummer on 4-22-1851. There is no record of what happened to him. On November 20, 1853, Susan married Peter K. Straw. They had a son named Jeff who at one time lived in Oklahoma and contacted his half-brother, Joseph Davis. The families did not keep contact. All of these marriages were in Callaway county, Missouri. James and Susan were the parents of John
Wesley, Joshua, and Joseph Davis. John and Joshua were twins.

She married (1) James DAVIS 7 January 1841 in Callaway Co., Missouri. He was born 1820 in Kanawha CO., WVA/VA. James died 19 August 1846.
Information received from Dr. Arthur Davis, Box 3481, Borger, Texas 79008 (1999)James Davis. James Davis was born in Virginia in 1820 and his recorded death was August 19, 1846. Not much is known about him. He was a school teacher and was Scotch-Irish, reportedly from Ulster County. There are several stories about his disappearance in 1846. The one by his own descendants is that one day he rode to Macon, Missouri, to inquire about a teaching job and never returned. It was believed that he may have been killed by Indians who stole his horse. Another story is that he returned to Virginia to settle an estate and did not return. There are several others. His youngest son, Joseph, was only three years old at the time. James married Susan Mildred Bagby in Callaway County, Missouri, January 7, 1841.

They had 3 children:
        m John William DAVIS, born 17 September 1841, died 29 January 1915.
