Smoke Hole lies along Smoke Hole Rd. N of Upper Tract (Pendleton county).  It is a half mile deep gorge formed by the South Branch of the Potomac River.  A road leads  NW from US 220, traverses a portion of the gorge and ends at the Big Bend Campground.  Access to Smoke Hole is south via FR 74 from the SR28 intersection at Cabins. 

Spruce Knob - Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area*
Seneca Rocks is US33 and SR28 at the town of Seneca Rocks.  Seneca Rocks Interpretive Center offers a variety of programs including slides, films, hikes and outdoor demonstrations

Spruce Knob is W of US33 by a forest road about 2.5 mi S. of Riverton.  Spruce Knob is the highest point in West Virginia.  Features an observation tower and interpretive trail.  Note:  Road is only partially paved with no shoulders in some areas.
