....The Descendants Of The French Creek Pioneers....

The Descendants Of The French Creek Pioneers is an organization dedicated to the preservation of history and genealogy of the first pioneer settlers and their descendants of French Creek, Upshur County, West Virginia. The organization of which  'The Pioneer is the official publication was first proposed at an informal social gathering in April, 1921 at the home of Eugene Brown in Buckhannon, WV. The suggestion to form such an organization came after an evening in reminiscences of former experiences in the French Creek community. A committee was formed in May of 1921. The committee met Oct. 29, 1921 at the Presbyterian Church and adopted a constitution and by-laws. "The Descendants Of The French Creek Pioneers" was chosen as the name of the organization. The Pioneers continue to meet bi-annually on the third weekend of August. Our next meeting is August 16 & 17, 2008.
