Peyton Family Cemetery

PEYTON FAMILY CEMETERY Barboursville, Cabell Co., WV

The Peyton family cemetery is located on a hill at the intersection of Tom's Creek Road and Martha Road in Barboursville, WV. This property is now owned by the Hash family, who are direct descendants of Henry Peyton, the original land owner. From Interstate 64, take Mall Exit, south to US 60 then east to next red light. Turn right on Tom's Creek at light and go 3.3 mile to Tom's Creek/Martha Road intersection. Facing the home, the cemetery lies on the left hillside, to the side and behind, the Hash homestead.

Henry Peyton, a Rev. War soldier, came to Cabell County from Amherst County, Virginia before 1806. All of the Peyton's buried in this cemetery are members of Henry's direct family or are connected to this family by marriage. The Peyton Cemetery has also been called the Hash Cemetery.

The names of known persons in unmarked graves are included at the end of the page. This page will be updated periodically as research continues in the effort to identify more unmarked graves.
