WelcomeI am Candie Freeman, Coordinator for the Cabell County web site. Please email me if you have any suggestions or contributions you would like to make. This site is currently undergoing major changes and a lot of the links will be broken or some files may be missing. This will soon be alleviated as the new look takes form. I enjoy being your coordinator and I hope you enjoy your visit. Cabell County was established in 1809 from Kanawha County, when the area
was still the state of Virginia. The county seat has changed
several times throughout our history, originally located at Guyandotte,
moved back and forth between Barboursville and Guyandotte a few times, until
1887 when it was moved to Huntington.
Most of Huntington is in Cabell, but a small portion of the city, mainly the area of
Westmoreland, is in Wayne County. Please visit often to keep up-to-date on the additions to this page. Join the Cabell County Mail List and get to know other county researchers. To subscribe, please click the appropriate link Subscribe / Unsubscribe. This is a great list to ask questions about your Cabell County ancestors! We look forward to meeting you!
