Frametown

Frametown

Frametown was settled by James Frame, Sr. in 1798. While hunting James Frame
got separated from his partner, who eventually wound up back in Augusta
County, Va. James Frame wandered around for several days, thinking his
partner had been
killed by indians. He followed the river to Parkersburg, then returned to
Virginia. He
traded a black horse and flintlock rifle for a large land tract in what is
now Braxton
County and returned with his family and built a cabin. For many years, all
the residents of the area were members of his family. It was originally
called "Frame's
Mill" but later changed to Frametown.
