Transcribed Documents

Thinking about sending in your transcriptions? Please keep in mind a lot of books available for your use still hold a copyright and cannot be transcribed unless they were published prior to 1923. Public records, such as births, deaths, wills, etc. hold no copyright so if you've spent time in courthouses or libraries making copies of your ancestors' wills, deeds, births, deaths, marriages, and other records, those can be submitted. If you'd like to learn more about copyright, check out the following articles: Mistake or Misdemeanor?, by Rhonda R. McClure, Ancestry Magazine, 1/1/2000 - Archive, January/February 2000 Vol. 18, No. 1; and Copyright and Wrong: What to Know Before You Publish, by Jan DeLucien, Genealogical Computing, 7/1/2000 Archive, Summer 2000 Vol. 20.1.
