OUR OPEN DAY 2012 |
ABOUT OUR OPEN DAY |
Our Open Day gives us the chance to meet members from all over the country, and indeed all over the World, who come to visit it. It also gives you, the researchers, the chance to view the stands of each of our branches, of other Family History Societies and organisations from far afield, and of booksellers, specialist printers and software retailers and many, many others. Our thanks go out to all those who support the event each year and continue to make it such a success.
For a number of years we have held our Open Day in the ever popular venue of County Hall in Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran, but the 2011 Open Day was the last at Cwmbran because of the premises being demolished. After a lot of searching and deliberating it has been agreed due to financial costs to hire a suitable large premises not to hold the event during 2012. Instead the society is hoping to attend and possibly run many smaller events within the county to reach the public which we feel might be a lot more effective. This does not mean that in future years we will not being holding a large event such as before but only that at the moment the event is postponed for this year.
