OBITUARY - 31 August 1957 - Oshkosh Northwestern Newspaper.


Mrs. Raatz dies at age of 93. Mrs. Raatz, 93, formerly of Oshkosh, died today at 6 a.m. at the home of a daughter, Mars. William Berndt, Rt. 1, Larsen, in the Town of Wolf River. She had been ill the past five weeks. She was born March 8, 1864, in Germany, and came to this country and went to Wolf River in 1871. She moved to Oshkosh in 1912, later returning to Wolf River. She was married in Waupaca County on April 26, 1882, to F. C. Raatz, who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1931. Surviving are two sons, Charles Raatz, Oshkosh, and William Raatz, Van Dyne; two daughters, Mrs. Berndt in Wolf River, and Mrs. Agnes Felly, Madison; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Konrad Funeral Home, with Rev. Virgil Ganz, of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Zittau, officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from Sunday at 3 p.m. until the hour of services.

Charles E. Raatz. Charles E. Raatz, 82, Oshkosh, died Friday morning in Mercy Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1899, in Zittau, the son of Frederick and Augusta Yeager Raatz. Mr. Raatz formerly ran Raatz Dray Line Trucking, and later worked for Marquardt Millwork, Northern Transportation, the Edward H. Meyer Co., and for the last 17 years before his retirement in 1960, for Olsen Transportation. Survivng are two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Ruth) Bednar, Denver, Colo. And Mrs. John (Helen) Miller, Oshkosh; one son, Frederick, Oshkosh; one brother, William, Van Dyne; and 10 grandchildren. Arrangements are pending at Konrad Funeral Home.

Former Shoemaker At Zittau Is Dead. A former Zittau shoemaker, Frederick Carl Raatz, 72, passed away Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at his home in the town of Algoma, where it is situated near the city on the Omro road. His death ended a period of 11 years during which he was an invalid, following injuries he received in 1920 in a factory here. Born in Waupaca county April 15, 1859, Raatz was the last of a pioneer family. He learned the shoe trade as a boy and spent practically all his life until 1920 in his shop in Zittau. That year he left the business and came to Oshkosh. As feeder for a trip saw in the Diamond Match company plant, he was struck in the stomach by a strip of wood, sustaining internal injuries and a serious rupture from which he never recovered, his family stated. He is survived by his widow; three sons, Alex C. Raatz and Charles E. Raatz, Oshkosh, and William J. Raatz, of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. William Berndt, of Zittau, and Mrs. Alfred Felly, of Madison; and 10 grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Konrad Funeral Home, 103 Waugoo Street, with commitment in Doty Street Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. C. J. Lange, Pastor of Peace Lutheran Church, will officiate. The remains may be viewed at the funeral home until the time of service.

OBITUARY


16 November 1898 - Fred Raatz of Zittau died Monday evening, aged 85 years. His illness was not prolonged but he gradually and quietly passed into eternity. Today his remains were laid to rest in the churchyard not very distant from his home.

META A. RAUCH


Meta A. Rauch of Oshkosh died this morning in Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Oshkosh, the daughter of Herman and Louise Ziebell Fuhs.

She married Edward Rauch, Dec. 25, 1941, in Oshkosh. He died Aug. 20, 1962.

Mrs. Rauch was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Bethel Home Auxillary.

Surviving is one brother, Walter Fuhs, Oshkosh.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Marquardt Oregon Street Chapel, the Rev. Richard Becker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.. A memorial has been established to Christ Lutheran Church.

EMIL R. REETZ DIES AT OSHKOSH HOSPITAL; RITES HELD AT BORTH


Emil Rinehold Reetz died at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh, on Friday afternoon, August 1 at 2:15 o'clock at the age of 83. Mr. Reetz had been in good health until February, 1952, when he reportedly suffered an attack of influenza. He, however, was quite active until 6 weeks ago, when he was taken to the hospital for treatment of complications associated with old age.

Funeral services were held at the Borth Evangelical United Brethren Church Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The pastor, Rev. Vernon R. Miller of Berlin officiated with the Mueller Funeral Home of Winneconne in charge of arrangements.

Burial was in the family lot on the Borth cemetery. Pallbearers were Albin and Frank Herbst, Arthur Haase, John Grimes, Rinehold Rates and Carl Haase.

Mr. Reetz, son of John and Louise Reetz, was born in the Province of Posen, Germany on December 6, 1868. He came to America with his parents at the age of 17. The family settled in the Borth community. He was the youngest living member of a family of 9 children.

Mr. Reetz was united in marriage with Emma Haase of Borth on March 15, 1889. On March 15, 1952 they celebrated the 63rd anniversary of their marriage. The family had three sons.

He was an active farmer for about 63 years, with all but three years spent in the Poygan area. For three years, the family resided in Nebraska. Mr. Reetz was a member of the Borth Evangelical United Brethren Church, since the disbanding of the German Methodist Church of Borth about 25 years ago.

Those remaining to mourn his passing are his wife; three sons, Herman of Neenah, Rinehold of Rushford, and Ervin on the home farm in the town of Poygan; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Winneconne-- Mrs. Emma Reetz, 93, died Saturday at 9:45 P.M. at the Sunset Haven Rest Home, Menasha. (June 4)

She was born June 4, 1873 in Chicago, and moved to the Borth-Poygan area with her parents. She was married to Emil Reetz on March 15, 1889, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1952.

Survivors are two sons, Herman on Neenah and Irvin of the town of Poygan; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Mueller Funeral Home from 3 P.M. Tuesday until 11 A.M. Wednesday and from noon until the time of the service at 2 P.M. at Borth Evangelical United Brethren Church. Burial will be in Borth Cemetery, with the Rev. Milton Nehrbass officiating.

Richard Reinsma


WAUTOMA - A World War I veteran, Richard Reinsma, 75, Rt. 3, Wautoma, died Sunday at Wautoma Community Memorial Hospital. He had been in ill health the past several weeks.

Mr. Reinsma was born May 3, 1893, in Holland and came to the U.S. as a young boy. He worked in Milwaukee for many years and he moved to the Wautoma area in 1949 where he farmed.

Surviving are his widow, Hazel; two sons, Ted, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Russell, Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Jefferys, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Patricia Szukis, Plainfield; three step-daughters, Mrs. Harriet Baum, Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Jane Pomplun, Janesville, and Mrs. Mary Ann Patrents, Franklin; one sister, Mrs. Effie Opper, Baldwin, Mich,; 26 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at West Holden Lutheran Church, the Rev. Merle Ries officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday at Patterson Funeral Home and from noon until time of service at the church.

Herbert A. Reiter


Herbert A. Reiter, 75, Oshkosh died Thursday night at his home.

He was born May 10, 1909, in Oshkosh, the son of Fred and Agnes Groskreutz Reiter. He married Rose Heinemann Aug. 20, 1929 in Oshkosh.

Mr. Reiter was a bus driver for the Oshkosh Transit System from 1952 until his retirement in 1972. He also was a Winnebago County under-sheriff and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. A Mason, he was past master of Centennial Lodge No. 205 and a member of Bethlehem Shrine No. 2 and White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Priscilla) Colrue, Jr., Iola and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Hansen, Oshkosh; one son, Richard M., Oshkosh; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Christ Lutheran Church, the Rev. Richard Becker officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-8 p.m., with a Masonic service from 7 p.m. They may also call at the church from noon until the time of services.

Rose I. Reiter


Rose I. Reiter, 90, of Oshkosh died Tuesday, February 6, 1996 at Park View/Pleasant Acres. She was born in Oshkosh on January 2, 1906, the daughter of Casper and Alvina Brandenburg Heinemann. On August 20, 1929, she married Herbert A. Reiter in Oshkosh. He preceded in death on March 14, 1985.

Rose was employed by the S.S. Kresge Company for 25 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she had been very active until her health prevented it. She was a member of Mary Martha Circle, past secretary of the Women of the Church, the church Sewing Circle, the past president of the Centennial Ladies, past Worthy High Priestess Bethel Shrine No. 2, past Worthy Matron Order of the Eastern Star No. 16, a 50 year member of the North American Benefit Association.

Her survivors include a son, Richard M. (Helen) Reiter of Oshkosh; two daughters, Priscilla (Harvey) Colrue of Iola and Patricia (Robert) Hansen of Oshkosh; two sisters, Viola Bublitz of Oshkosh and Margaret Kaeser of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Walter Heinemann and a sister, Marie Gansen.

Her funeral will be Saturday, February 10, 1996, at 1:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home on Waugoo Avenue with the Rev. Thomas McFarland officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial to the Christ Lutheran Church has been established.

MRS. REVOLTA DIES AT ST. MARY'S HOME (1946)


Mrs. Modest Revolta, a resident of Oshkosh for the past 16 years died at St. Mary's home Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. The deceased was 73 years of age.

Born in Italy, July 22, 1873, Mrs. Revolta came to the United States to St. Louis, Mo., in 1903. Her husband, Messino Revolta, preceded her in death May 2, 1930.

Survivors include one son, John Revolta, Evanston, Ill., noted professional golfer, who has won several national tournaments; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Anger, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Edith Austin, Fond du Lac; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Monday Morning at 8:30 o'clock at the Fiss and Bills funeral home and at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's Catholic church, the Rev. F. M. McKeough officiating. Interment will be at Riverside cemetary.

Friends may call at the funeral home from Sunday afternoon until the hour of the services. The rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 8 o'clock.

Eileen Rogge, 68, Oshkosh, died in her home Saturday morning.

She was born June 8, 1913, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Jack and Frances Dahl. She married Victor C. Rogge, June 30, 1937, in Tigerton.

Mrs. Rogge was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are her widower; one son, Norton, Oshkosh; three brothers, Jack Dahl, Wittenberg, Chester Dahl, Bowler, and Henry Dahl, Neenah, and two sisters, Mrs. Orville (Betty) Rogge, Wittenberg, and Agnes Buelow, Appleton.

Services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Seefeld Eagle Street Chapel and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. Michael Donovan officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Eagle Street Chapel today from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Omro � Charles B. Ross, age 76, died Wednesday, May 18, 1999, at Omro Care Center. He was born in Oshkosh on October 2, 1922, the son of Charles and Harriet Ross. He married Mary Derber on October 14, 1951. They later divorced.

Charlie lived in the Omro area for most of his life with farming being his passion. He established �Spring Broke Acres� at 3871 Highway FF, Omro, which he later transferred to his son. He was a past president of P.M.P.C., the Pure Milk Products Corporation.

Charles Ross, town of Omro farmer died at his home on the Oshkosh-Omro road, Wednesday evening at 8:45 o�clock. Death was the result of a lingering illness from which he had suffered for a long time.

Mr. Ross was born in Oshkosh, Oct. 3, 1858. When he was a small boy, his parents moved to a farm at Clairville, in the town of Algoma. About 40 years ago Mr. Ross moved to a farm on the Omro road where he had resided since that time.

He had been married twice, his first wife being Miss Mary Fries of Eureka. To this union was born five children, Frederick of Omro; Louis of Los Angeles; Mrs. Florence Coon of Oakfield; Mrs. Helen Goltz of Fremont; and a child who died in infancy. His wife passed away in 1916.

Two years later, Mr. Ross was married to Miss Harriet Devens, who survives him and also surviving are their three children, Martha, Mary Jane and Charles, all at home.

Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Kate Hawkins and Miss Mary Ross, both of Oshkosh; two brothers, John Ross of Oshkosh and George Ross of the town of Algoma; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Ross was a member of the First Presbyterian church of this city. For many years he served on the school board of the Omro Junction school. Funeral services will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o�clock with the Rev. James A. Daum presiding. Burial will be in the Omro Junction cemetery. Friends may view the remains at the home from Saturday noon until the hour of the funeral.

Mr. Ross was a member of the Elo Grange and services at the grave will be conducted by the Grange, under the leadership of the master Frank Fry.

Former Resident dies at Chicago


A former resident of Oshkosh, Clyde Ross, about 40, died Tuesday at Chicago.

He was born in Oshkosh, a son of the late Phillip Ross, veteran fire department captain, and moved in Chicago about 25 years ago. Survivors are the widow; one sister, Miss Ida Ross, of Fond du Lac; and a brother. Floyd, of Chicago.

The body will be brought to Oshkosh, Friday noon at 12:34 on the Chicago & Northwestern Railway, and will be taken directly to Riverside cemetery for interment.

J. Edward �Eddie� Ross, 75, Oshkosh, died Saturday, January 29, 1994, at Bethel Home.

He was born July 23, 1918, in Oshkosh, a son of the late George and Trena Paulson Ross. Eddie married Irene Ostwald on October 16, 1948, in Oshkosh.

Mr. Ross worked for almost 20 years as a heavy equipment operator for Kramp Construction, Milwaukee. He was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

J. Edward Ross is survived by his wife, Irene of Oshkosh; son, Gary E. (Claudeen) Ross of Oshkosh; daughter, Karlene B. (Dennis) Leatherman of Oshkosh; a stepson, Dennis (Heide) Greeninger of Oshkosh; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Jiles (Hazel) Ross of Sierra Vista, Arizona; loving in-laws; nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 1994, at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Robert Rosenberg officiating. Friends may call at Calvary Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 1st, from 12 p.m. (noon) until the time of the service.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

Omro � A former Omro resident, Fred Ross, 85, Redondo Beach, Calif., died Saturday in Canoga Park Hospital in California.

He was born Sept. 17, 1896 in Omro.

Mr. Ross, a California resident for the past 45 years, had worked at MGM Studios as a prop maker for 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees No. 44 and St. Cross Episcopal Church, Redondo Beach. While in Omro, he had been a member of the Odd Fellows and was active in Boy Scouting for many years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are one son, Bob Ross, San Diego, Calif.; one stepson, Dick Grant, Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Helen Goltz, Wisconsin; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. in Omro Cemetery, the Rev. Dan Rushing officiating.

There will be no visitation.

George Ross, 78, lifelong resident and farmer at the town of Algoma, died of a heart attack while he was doing chores about 5 o�clock yesterday evening.

Mr. Ross was born June 11, 1871, in the town of Algoma. On May 13, 1906, he married Miss Trena Paulson, Oshkosh. From the time of its organization he was president of the board of the Ellenwood Cemetery association. For 33 years he served as director and treasurer of the Clairville school board. Until his retirement two years ago he was a town of Algoma South Side Supervisor.

Survivors in addition to his wife, are three sons, Jiles Ross, Omaha, Neb., Raymond Ross, Milwaukee, and Edward Ross, at home; one brother, John Ross, Oshkosh; two sisters, Miss Mary Ross, and Mrs. Katherine Hawkins, both of Oshkosh; and two grandchildren. A son, LeRoy, preceded him in death in 1926.

Funeral services will be held at First English Lutheran church, of which he was a member. The Rev. E.A. Koch will officiate at the services at 2 o�clock Sunday afternoon. Friends may call at the Marquardt funeral home Saturday afternoon and until 12 o�clock noon Sunday and at the church from 12:30 until the time of services. Burial will be in Ellenwood cemetery.

Death Summons Mrs. Harriet Ross


Mrs. Harriet Ross, 73, of Rt. 4, Oshkosh, died Wednesday at 6:20 p.m. at Mercy Hospital, where she had been a patient since November.

She was born March 21, 1885, in Town of Vinland, daughter of the late Alfred and Martha Devens, and was married in June 1918, to Charles Ross, who preceded her in death in 1934.

Mrs. Ross, a graduate of Oshkosh Normal School, taught in rural schools in the county for 17 years. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, S and S Society of the church, Zion Community Grange and Omro Junction Homemakers.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Helmuth, Waukau, and Mrs. Mary Lee, Rt. 1, Winneconne; one son, Charles B. Ross, Larsen; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mallery & Seefeld Funeral Home, with the Rev. James A. Daum, pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from Friday at 2 p.m. until the hour of services.

Former Resident of Oshkosh Dies


Miss Ida Ross, a former resident of Oshkosh died Wednesday afternoon at 4 o�clock at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Albert Wegel, 159 West Cotton street, Fond du Lac. She had been ill for a week with pneumonia. She was born in this city March 12, 1885, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Phil Ross.

Miss Ross had been employed by the former S. Heymann company in this city for a number of years. Following the death of her parents about 17 years ago, she moved to Fond du Lac, where she has resided since that time with the exception of a year spent in Chicago.

Her only immediate survivor is a brother Floyd Ross, who lives at Crystal Lake, Ill.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o�clock at the Zinke Funeral home at Fond du Lac. The remains will be brought to this city and services will be held about 2:30 o�clock at Riverside chapel. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery.

John Ross Dies after Car becomes stuck in Snowdrift


John Ross, 81, of 122 W. 17th Ave., died Monday at 6:45 p.m., following a heart attack.

While backing his car on the driveway at home, the auto became stuck in accumulated snow and after getting out of the car he collapsed. Police were called, and he was taken to Mercy Hospital in the city ambulance. Oxygen was administered without avail.

He was born June 13, 1876, in Town of Algoma, and had resided most of his life in Oshkosh. He was married here on June 22, 1917, to Mrs. Oswald Geiger, who preceded him in death on Aug 5, 1926.

Mr. Ross before his retirement had been employed as a machinist by the Soo Line Railroad in the shop in North Fond du Lac. He was a member of United Evangelical and Reformed Church , Oshkosh Lodge 27 of Masons, Tyrain Chapter 15, Royal Arch Masons, Oshkosh Council 8, Royal and Select Masons, Oshkosh Commandery 11 of Knights Templar and was a member of Odd Fellows.

Only survivor is one daughter, Mrs. Arthur J. Ackerman, Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at United Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the Rev. James Bettin officiating. Burial will be in New Elm Church Cemetery.

Friends may call at Marquardt Funeral Home from 3 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. on Friday, and at the church on Friday from noon until the hour of services. Oshkosh Lodge 27 of Masons will conduct graveside service.

The funeral of Mrs. Katherine Ross took place yesterday afternoon from the residence in the town of Algoma. Rev. A.C. McHenry officiating. There was singing by Mrs. Jacob W. Rocher and Miss Clara Schmidt. Burial was at Ellenwood. The Pallbearers were four sons, Charles, Phillip, George and John Ross, and two grandsons, Floyd and Kenneth Hawkins. Among those attending were Charles Ross and family. Floyd and Clyde Ross of Chicago, Miss Grace Hawkins of Berlin and Mrs. Weigh of Fond du Lac.

Services for LeRoy Ross will be held Wednesday Afternoon from Parents� home.

The funeral services for LeRoy Ross, unfortunate victim of a drowning accident near this city Sunday, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o�clock at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ross, on the Oshkosh-Waukau road in the town of Algoma.

Rev. G.E. Kuhlmann of this city will officiate. Miss Clara A. Schmidt and Miss Adeline Phillipson will sing. Interment is to be in the Ellenwood cemetery. Those wishing to view the remains may do so this evening, and up to the time of the services at the Ross home.

Ross services


Services for Louis Ross, 76 of Oshkosh, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Marquardt Funeral chapel. The Rev. Elmer Harvey will officiate. Burial will be in Omro Cemetery.

Mr. Ross died Thursday at Mercy Medical Center.

He was born in Omro Nov. 7, 1903, the son of Charles and Mary Ross. He married Beatrice Bissell Aug. 1, 1940, in Ashland. She died July 22, 1971.

Mr. Ross was an engineer on the Soo Line Railroad. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 205, the Tryolean Chapter 15, and Fond du Lac Moose Lodge 245.

Surviving is one brother, Fred, Redondo Beach, Calif., and one sister. Mrs. William (Helen) Goltz, Fremont.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel Saturday from noon until the time of services.

Mrs. Charles Ross Dies.


Town of Omro Resident passes Away � funeral services are to be held Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Mary Ross, wife of Charles Ross of the town of Omro, died Saturday evening at 6:30 o�clock after an extended illness which an operation failed to alleviate. Mrs. Ross was fifty-seven years of age and survived by her husband, two sons, Fred and Louis, and two daughters, Miss Florence Ross and Miss Helen Ross, all of whom live at home. Mrs. Ross was Miss Fries before marriage and a brother, Fred Fries, resides at Eureka. Mrs. William Parsons, of Berlin is a sister and there are three other sisters, two in Washington and one in California and two brothers in Washington, none of whom are expected to be able to get here for the funeral. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon. A special car has been chartered to leave this city at 1:15 o�clock and the service will be conducted at 2 o�clock at the residence, Rev. Daniel Woodward of the Omro Congregational church will officiate. Interment will be at the Omro Junction cemetery and the special car will convey the funeral party to the cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Ross - Mary Ross


Mrs. Phillip Ross, wife of the late Phillip Ross, who passed away about a month age, died yesterday at St. Mary�s hospital following an operation. Mrs. Ross who was fifty-two years of age, and had been in poor health for over a year. She is survived by one daughter, Ida of this city, and two sons, Clyde of Chicago and Floyd who is in the American army service for Peace; two sisters, Mrs. A. Wegel of Fond du Lac and Mrs. R. Leitz of Chicago; three brothers, William Fisher of this city and Charles and Edward Fisher who reside near Omro. The funeral will be held in private from the Konrad chapel, Sunday afternoon at 1 o�clock. Rev. Edward H. Smith will officiate and interment will be at Riverside. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so Sunday morning at the Konrad chapel. The husband of Mrs. Ross was long a member of the city fire department.

Miss Mary Ross Dies at Hospital


Miss Mary Ross, 420 17th St. died Friday at 8 p.m. at Mercy Hospital , where she had been a patient since Tuesday. She had been in failing health since 1947.

She was born Feb. 19, 1867, in Town of Algoma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ross. She lived on the farm homestead until 1926 when she came to Oshkosh to live with her brother. She was a charter member of the Knoweldeen Club, Town of Algoma.

Surviving are her brother, John Ross, Oshkosh. Preceding her in death were four brothers, Charles, Phillip, Andrew and George Ross, and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Hawkins and Miss Susan Ross.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Marquardt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Albert A. Meussling, pastor of First Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ellenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from Monday after 1 p.m. to the hour of services.

Retire Fireman Dies
Phillip Ross served in the Oshkosh Department Twenty-three years Funeral


Death came Thursday afternoon to Phillip Ross, retired member of the Oshkosh fire department, after a long illness. He was born in 1859, in Oshkosh, and was therefore fifty-nine years of age. For a period of twenty-three years he served as a fireman and for several years previous to retiring on a pension he was captain of the NO. 4 Brooklyn hose house on Sixth Street. He left the department four years ago on account of ill health, completing the required period of service necessary to entitle him to the benefits of the firemen�s pension fund.

The surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Ross, two sons, Floyd Ross, now in the United States army in France and Clyde Ross of Chicago, and one daughter, Ida Ross of this city. There are also three brothers, two sisters and a cousin surviving. The funeral services will be held next Sunday afternoon, with services at 2 o�clock at the residence , 1214 South Main street. The deceased was member of the Royal Arcanum and the Equitable Fraternal Union. Friends are requested �

Mrs. Rose Ross Dies


Was active church worker and is survived by number of relatives who live nearby.

Mrs. Rose Ross, wife of John Ross, passed away Thursday morning at 4:20 o�clock at her home, 420 Seventeenth street. Mrs. Ross had lived in Oshkosh for twenty years and was an active member of the Ladies Aid society of the First Reformed church, Eleventh and Minnesota streets. She is survived by husband, her mother Mrs. Margaret Babler of Black Wolf, four brothers, Henry, John and Fred Babler of Black Wolf, and Peter Babler of Vandyne, and two sisters, Mrs. Leonard Geiger, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Herman Muelleer, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 1:30 o�clock, and at the First Reformed church at 2 o�clock. Rev/ William Oelrich officiating. Interment will be at New Ulm cemetery.

Mrs. Trena Ross


Mrs. Trena Ross, 87, formerly of 1113 Oregon St., died Monday at 7 p.m. at Evergreen Manor Extended Care center. She had been residing at the home the past 2 � years.

She was born in the Town of Washington, Shawano County, on March 10, 1882, daughter of John and Mary Paulson, and was married here on Mary 23, 1906, to George Ross who preceded her in death on Oct.31, 1946. Mrs. Ross had resided in the Town of Algoma before coming to Oshkosh in 1957. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and charter member of the Kroweldeen Club, and a member of the Lois Circle.

Surviving are three sons, Jiles Ross Vista Ariz., Raymond Ross Kewaskum, and Edward Ross Oshkosh; one brother, Christ Paulson, Iron River, Mich.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Marquardt Funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Harswick, pastor of first English Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ellenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. A memorial has been established to which friends may contribute.
