FORMER RESTAURANT OPERATOR PASSES AWAY
Cliffe Thomas MacDonald, 59, of 91 Ashland avenue, passed way at 6:30 a.m. today at Sunnyview. He had been ill for 10 years.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Spikes & McDonald funeral home with the Rev. William F. Long, of the First Baptist temple, officiating. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon until the time of services.
Mr. MacDonald was born in Oshkosh, April 19, 1889, and had lived here his entire life. In 1915 he married the former Adeline Mirkes, who proceeded him in death in 1928. Until his retirement, he had operated a local restaurant.
Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Thomas MacDonald; two daughters, Mrs. Norman Smith and Miss Joyce MacDonald; two sons, Billy and Donald; four brothers, Winfield, Robert, Charles, and Evans. All are of Oshkosh except his brother, Winfield, who resides in Monroe, WI. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Melvin Kraemer, of Fond du Lac, three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

HAROLD M'DONALD PASSES AWAY AT HOME
Harold E. MacDonald, 59 of 68 Mill Street, passed away at 5:30 o'clock this morning at his residence after suffering a heart attack. He had been in failing health for a long time.
Mr MacDonald was born in Oshkosh April 23, 1886, the son of Thomas and Emma MacDonald. He was married to Anna Zimmerman in this city Feb. 16, 1912. He was employed 22 years, first as a streetcar motorman and later as a bus driver by Eastern Electric Company, Wisconsin Power and Light Company and Oshkosh City Lines Inc.
Survivors besides the widow are his mother, Mrs. Emma MacDonald of Oshkosh; one son T/Sgt. Harold T. MacDonald now stationed at Fort Sheridan,IL. after three and one-half years services overseas; one foster son S/1 Donald MacDonald, serving somewhere in the south Pacific; six brothers, Clifford, Evans, Charles, and Robert all of this city, Winfield of Mauston, Wis., and Guild of West Allis; one sister, Mrs Melvin Kraemer of Van Dyne, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Spikes & McDonald funeral home with the Rev. C.B. Cunningham of First Baptist temple officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening and up to the time of the service.

CHEF ON GOVERNMENT STEAMER NEENAH DIES
The chef on the government steamer Neenah, Thomas D. MacDonald, 70, passed away this morning at 7:45 o'clock at his home, 91 Ashland avenue, following a stroke of apoplexy.
Mr. MacDonald had lived in Oshkosh since he was 14, coming here with his parents. He formerly cooked on the steamer Wolf, and has been chef on the Neenah since it was built.
He was born at Scotch Ridge, N.B. August 23, 1863.
Survivors are the widow, the former Miss Emma Brooks of Oshkosh; seven sons, Harold, Clifford, and Walter, all of Oshkosh; Winfield of Sheboygan; Robert, Charles and Evans of Oshkosh; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin Kraemer, Van Dyne; 17 grandchildren and two brothers, John of Oshkosh and Robert of Wisconsin Rapids.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Spikes & MacDonald funeral home, Court and Otter streets, with burial; at Lake View Memorial Park. Rev. Franklin M. Morse of Calvary Baptist church will officiate.
The remains will be at the funeral home from Friday to the time of the services.

MRS. MACDONALD DIES AT AGE OF 87
Mrs. Emma M. MacDonald, 87, widow of Thomas D. MacDonald, died at her home at 91 Ashland Avenue at 11:45 a.m. Monday after an illness of two years.
Mrs. MacDonald was born August 27, 1866 at Janesville, but came to Oshkosh as a child. She was married to Thomas D. MacDonald on Feb. 19, 1885 at Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1934. Mrs. MacDonald was a member of First Baptist Temple.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Melvin Kraemer, Fond du Lac, four sons, Winfiled S. MacDonald, Monroe, Wis., Robert A., Charles R., and Evans G. MacDonald, all of Oshkosh, and 52 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was proceeded in death by four sons.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Spikes & McDonald Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles L. Pack of First Baptist Temple will officiate and burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services.

RITES HERE WEDNESDAY FOR WORLD WAR I VETERAN
Military honors will be conferred at funeral services to be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at Sacred Heart church for Walter MacDonald, 52, a former resident of Oshkosh and a veteran of World War I, who died Sunday morning at 4:30 o'clock at his Milwaukee residence.
Mr. MacDonald was born in Oshkosh April 2, 1894, and resided in this city until 1937, when he moved to Milwaukee. He was married to Miss Emily Herbina in Oshkosh, Oct. 18, 1922.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Miss Beverly MacDonald; his mother, Mrs. Emma MacDonald; one sister, Mrs. Melvin Kraemer, Van Dyne; and five brothers, Winfield, Mauston, Wis., and Cliff, Robert, Charles, and Evans, Oshkosh.
The remains may be viewed at the Poklasny funeral home this evening and until the time of the service. A rosary will be said this evening at 7:30 o'clock.

REDGRANITE - Mrs. Tillie Malnory, 84, of Rt. 1, Redgranite, died this morning at Berlin Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Malnory was born on Oct. 12, 1885, in Oshkosh. She married Leslie Malnory on Oct. 1, 1912 in Omro. He died in 1963.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Patrick O'Keefe, Omro, Mrs. Charles Derr, Oshkosh, Mrs. William Zuelke and Mrs. Allen Johnson, both of Redgranite, and Miss Mydell Malnory, Milwaukee; two sons, Harlow, Redgranite, and Milo of Pine River; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are pending at Hempel Funeral Home, Redgranite.

MISS ABBIE MADDEN DIES AT MILWAUKEE
Secretary of Castle-Pierce Printing Company Passes Away Suddenly.
Miss Abbie F. Madden, 68, who held position of secretary of the Castle-Pierce Printing Company, although she has had no active role in the business since 1937, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Sacred heart sanitarium, Milwaukee.
Miss Madden's death was sudden and unexpected. She had gone to the sanitarium for a physical checkup and a rest. Her condition had not been considered serious. She had been at the sanitarium for one month.
The deceased was born in Oshkosh, July 13, 1872, and had resided in Oshkosh all her life. She was the last survivor of six daughters of the late Stephen and Ellen Madden, early residents of Oshkosh.
Miss Madden was a sister of the late Mrs. W.M. Castle. She was the aunt of Mrs. William F. Kane of Milwaukee, Mrs. E.P. Kelly of Chicago, and of Miss Bonnie Castle and William M. Castle of this city.
WAS EDUCATED HERE.
She was educated in local grade schools and attended the local high school. She became secretary of the Castle-Pierce Printing Company when that concern was incorporated in 1902. She retired from active business role in 1937.
She was a member of St. Peter's church, the Oshkosh Council of Catholic Women and the Business Women's club. She had the interesting hobby of home gardening, and raised flowers. In her earlier years she attained some reputation as an elocutionist.
Miss Madden enjoyed traveling. She had visited many places in the United States, and for her most extensive trip made a visit to Alaska.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8.30 o'clock at the Fiss & Bills funeral home, and at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's church. The Rev. F.M. McKeough will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery.

DOROTHY L. MALONE
Dorothy L. "DOT" Malone, age 58, of Oshkosh, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, May 24, 2000. She was born in Conrath, Wisconsin on January 10, 1942 a daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth Jane (Huntington) Benedict (and Jesse C. Ewer). Dorothy married George E. Malone on July 5, 1968. She greatly enjoyed making crafts, reading and writing poetry, which included publishing of several of the poems that she created. Dot greatly enjoyed phone conversations with her many friends an relatives. Dorothy greatly enjoyed the love of her family and time spent with her children. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband George; four children, George E. (Sandy) Malone III of Kimberly, Cy R. (Dawn) Malone of Park Hills, Missouri, Jesse C. Malone of Oshkosh, Susie Brewer of Oshkosh, two brothers, Richard (Marie) Benedict of Winneconne, Raymond (Linda) Benedict of Butte des Morts; four sisters, Luella (Ronald) Heagle of Oshkosh, Arletta Joas of Winneconne, Delores (Carl) Cihlar of Butte des Morts, Judy (Howard) Fuhs of Oshkosh. She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, one great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends.
A memorial service celebrating Dot's life will be held on Friday, May 26, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street with the Reverend John W. Covach presiding. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Seefeld Oregon Street Chapel on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established.
Remember me with tears and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all.
If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all.

Age 83, passed away Wednesday morning. He was born January 29, 1890 in Ottawa County, Illinois. He had been a Neenah resident most of his life and until his retirement, was employed by the City of Neenah. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Neenah, The Men's Aid Society, The Men's Club of the church and the Retired Men's Fellowship. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Mayme) Dricoll., Mrs Fred (Gertrude) Weight, and Mrs. Norman (Margaret) Schultz, all of Neenah; two sons Henry of Neenah and Carl, Jr. of New Milford Connecticutr. Eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Complete funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. from Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. G. A. Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Heinrich Marohn died Sunday morning at 7:00 at his home in Winneconne of neuralgia. He was fifty-five years of age, was born in Germany and came to this country in 1882. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Alma Marohn of Winneconne and Mrs. Robert Umlandt of South Rapids, Minnesota and four sons, Emil, Henry, Karl, and Frederick Marohn, all of Winneconne. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock at the residence and at 2:00 at the German Lutheran church, Rev. O. D. Hoyer officiating. Interment will be at the village cemetery.
Obituary translated from a local German language newspaper:
Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm Marohn was born August 5, 1859 in Parpat, Germany, County Greifenberg, Pommern, Germany. He married Bertha Augusta Maria Ehlke in 1882. The same year he and his wife immigrated to the United States and settled in Ottawa, Illinois. (According to passenger listing, page 254 - they traveled on the ship Nuernberg from Bremen to Baltimore - arrived: April 30, 1882). In 1895 he moved with his family to (?), WI in the vicinity of Neillsville, WI. His wife died in 1896. Some years later he moved with his family to Winneconne. On June 19, 1905 his son, Herman died. He suffered years from rheumatism and later also had groth-Neuralgie. He died August 30, 1914, shortly after 7:00 in the morning at the age of 55 years and 25 days. Surviving are four sons, two daughters and two sisters in this country. September 1, 1914 was his funeral and internment at the town cemetery.

Age 85, died suddenly at her residence in Neenah on Tuesday, December 27, 1988. She was born May 29, 1903 in Menasha the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Mary (Diener) Flenz, Sr. She married Carl Marquardt in Neenah and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1961. She was a lifetime Neenah-Menasha resident and had been employed by the Whiting Paper Company, Menasha and the Bergstrom Paper Company for several years. She was a member of the Immanual United Church of Christ. She is survived by a sister, Ella Huelsbeck, Menasha; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Dorothy A. Martin, 70, of Oshkosh died at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1994. She was born in Milwaukee on March 9, 1923, the daughter of Everett and Olive Gibson. She married Lester H. Martin on December 16, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1968.
Dorothy had been a seasonal employee of the Miles Kimball Co. for the past 43 years. She was a member of New Life Community Church; and was an avid gardener, having earned "Garden of the Month" award this last year.
Survivors include one son, Leland (Sandra) Martin; of Wyoming, Minnesota; one daughter, Dorene Cunningham, of Madison; and 4 grandchildren, Melissa Martin of Springfield, Missouri, Justin Martin of Canton, Ohio, Anna and Austin Martin of Wyoming, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Martin in 1978.
Funeral services will be held in New Life Community Church on Thursday, February 17, 1994 at 11 am, with the Rev. Peter Koeshall officiating. Internment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 pm and at the church on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the service. A memorial has been established.

L.L. MASTERSON DIES AT HOSPITAL
Lawrence L. Masterson, 70, of 12 Oxford St., died Sunday at 2 a.m. at Mercy Hospital, where he had been a patient since last Monday.
He was born in Oshkosh on April 18, 1886 and had lived here his entire lifetime. He was married here to Miss Olga Fuhs on Nov 12, 1913. Mr. Masterson was a retired machinist. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife, Olga; three sons, Kenneth, Willett and Donald Masterson, Oshkosh; two brothers, George Hutchinson, Chicago, and Hiram Hutchinson, Hurley; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Quinn and Mrs. Marie Whoelm, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Amber Morgan, Oshkosh; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.n. at Fiss & Bills Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. today until the hour of services. The rosary will be recited this evening at 7:30 o'clock, at which time Knights of Columbus will meet.

MRS. OLGA MASTERSON
Mrs. Olga L. Masterson, 84, of 211 Oxford St. died Thursday at 10:10 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center. She had been hospitalized five days.
She was born in Oshkosh on April 15, 1887, daughter of Herman and Louise Fuhs, and was married here on Nov 12, 1913 to Lawrence Masterson who preceded her in death on Dec 9, 1956.
Mrs. Masterson was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth F. and Willett J. Masterson, Oshkosh; one brother, Walter Fuhs, Oshkosh; one sister, Mrs. Edward Rausch, Chicago; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joseph Wong officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at Marquardt Funeral Home Sunday from 4 - 9 pm.

MRS. M. MAYEFSKI
NEENAH -- Mrs. Michael (Cecilia Mucha) Mayefski, 74, of 240 Gruenwald Ave., died Friday afternoon after a two-month illness. She was born Nov. 1, 1897, in Austria, and came to the U.S. in 1924. she was a Neenah resident the rest of her life.
Survivors include her widower, Michael; two daughters, Mrs. Russell Neshek, Menasha, and Mrs. Leonard Ihrig, Winneconne; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, the Rev. Ronald Hopfensperger officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
