Death of B. Frank Lloyd
Winnebago County Veteran
Body is Brought Here
Funeral Held From Home of Brother C. W. Lloyd, in This City Sunday Afternoon
B. Frank Lloyd, a brother of C. W. Lloyd of this city and one of the earliest settlers of Winnebago county, passed away Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Veterans' Home in Waupaca, death following an attack of heart trouble of about two weeks duration.
Mr. Lloyd was born in New York, April 18, 1836 and came to Wisconsin in 1848. The following years of his life were spent in Winnebago county, a greater part of the time in the town of Clayton, where Mr. Lloyd was located on a farm. Two years ago he left the scenes of his early manhood and went to Waupaca to join the old soldiers with whom he had done valiant battle during his younger days. The following article, written by a beloved comrade at Waupaca furnishes an excellent indication of the high esteem in which he was held in the eyes of his comrades:
Frank Lloyd, pioneer of Winnebago County, died in Waupaca, on the 5th day of April, 1912. Mr. Lloyd was born in N. Y. April 18th 1836, but came to Wisconsin when it was still a territory, and settled in Winnebago county. He enlisted in the Tenth Wisconsin infantry and served through the war. On his return he made his home in Clayton, where he married Miss Frances Nutter of Medina, with whom he had eight children, five boys and three girls, all of whom survive him, Mrs. Lloyd died some years ago. Mr. Lloyd devoted his time to farming and stock raising, and was considered one of the successful farmers in the community where he resided. A good and kind neighbor, an honest and upright citizen. His loss will be felt by all who knew him, and who now extend their heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved children.
Deceased is survived by five sons and three daughters, Frank and George of Big Sande, Mont., Jesse of Chesterfield, Neb., Ira of Minot N. D., C. M. Lloyd of Cottonwood, S. D., Mrs. Orah Wieck- [one line missing] Chicago, and Mrs. Edna Rose of Ft. Pierre, S. D., three brothers and one sister, C. W. Lloyd of Menasha, W. M. Lloyd of Hamden, Missouri Henry Lloyd, of Antigo, and Mrs. M. A. Miller of Chicago.
The remains were brought to this city from Waupaca late Saturday afternoon and the funeral was held from the C. W. Lloyd residence, 325 First street Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Members of the J. P. Shepard Post, G. A. R. Attended the services in a body and accompanied the remains to Winchester where interment was made at the Royer cemetery.

Death Claims Last Menasha Civil War Vet
Charles Wesley Lloyd, Menasha's last surviving veteran of the Civil war, passed away at 11:25 o'clock Monday evening at his home at 325 First street. Despite the fact that he was ninety-one years of age, Mr. Lloyd remained unusually active and it was only within the last year of his life that he yielded to the demands that years impose and refrained from his regular visits to the downtown section.
Mr. Lloyd was born Feb. 8, 1842, at Farmington, Ohio, and came west with his parents to live in the town of Clayton when he was five years of age. Although under age when the Civil war broke out he disregarded parental objection and ran away from home to enlist in the Eighth Wisconsin battery.
At the close of the war he took up his residence in Menasha and for the past 68 years had lived there. He was elected to the common council as alderman from the First ward and served three or four terms in that office. In 1896, at the time of the construction of the steel bridge crossing the Fox river above the government dam, Mr. Lloyd was a member of the bridge committee of the council and played an aggressive part in procuring construction of the new structure.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Joseph and John Lloyd, Menasha; three daughters, Misses Anna and Flora Lloyd, of Menasha, and Mrs. Anton Loerke, of Kaukauna; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock but arrangements had not been fully completed at noon today.
