Jerry Sehlke - I am looking for information concerning George William Searles and Elizabeth (Chamberlain) Searles. George was born in Gosport, Hampshire, England in about 1819 and it appears that he came to the US some time in the 1840's - 1850's. Elizabeth was born somewhere in Ohio in about 1838. George and Elizabeth homesteaded in the Bloomfield/Poy Sippi area in Waushara County WI in 1858. The family is listed under George W. Searl (sic) in the 1860 census. I have no further information on George, but Elizabeth supposedly died and was buried at Norfolk, Madison, NE on 2 Aug 1906. I don't know when they (or possibly just Elizabeth) moved from WI to NE. I know they had at least three childern Margaret, William George, and Sylvia Jane. I don't know if there were any other children (though I suspect that they had at least one other son).

I have a good handle on their son William George Searles (b. 1860) who is my Great-grandpa and I know that they had two other childern (Margaret b. ~ 1852 and Sylvia Jane Searles b. 1865). Both were born in Waushara County WI. William married Elizabeth Tuson Pearson, had two children in NE (Charles and Walter) and then moved to Washington State in about 1885/1886 where they had six more childern (Daisy, Marion, Mildred, George, Sidney and Douglas). Sylvia married a Franklin Gilbert Clark in about 1882, died and was buried in 6 Oct 1927 at Bassett, Rock, NE. As far as I can tell, they had one child Adalyne Edith (born 3 Mar 1888 at Creighton, Knox, Ne). I don't know anything about Margaret.

I would greatly appreciate any information you could provide on this family!
