This particular family seemed to have moved onto Portage Co., and was researched for a query on the queries page, only to have the email bounce. She is not related to these people, but we decided to post to the website.
Charles H. HERRICK was born on 22 Jan 1828 in Maine.1 He was 32 yrs on the 1860 census. He served in the military between 1861 and 1864 in Civil War. He died on 9 Jul 1900 in Bancroft, Portage Co, WI.2
Charles H. HERRICK was married to Nancy Malinda OSTRUM (daughter of Garret\Garrit OSTRUM and Dorcas PALMER) on 20 Sep 1857 in Waushara Co, WI.3 Family tradition, according to Al Holm, says this couple had more children, but these are the only known ones. Some of their children are listed in "Herrick Genealogy" compiled by Dr. Lucius Herrick and published in 1885. They were listed with 2 children and living in Plainfield on the 1860 census. Nancy Malinda OSTRUM was born on 12 Sep 1834 in Probably Sullivan Co, NY.4,1 She died on 11 Aug 1878 in Waushara Co, WI.5 She died in childbirth. Charles H. HERRICK and Nancy Malinda OSTRUM had the following children:
I. Albert HERRICK was born about 1855 in Probably Sullivan Co, NY.6,7 He was 5 yrs on the 1860 census and 15 yrs on the 1870 census. There was a boy named Daniel living with Charles and Nancy in 1870. According to Al Holm, Charles Herrick was in Maine in 1850 and moved to Wisconsin in 1852, so it seems likely that Daniel is not Charle's son. Also, he is not listed in the "Herrick Genealogy". There is no information about whether he was Nancy's or not. Al has found no record of Daniel after the 1870 census.
II. Ada Adora "Addie" HERRICK5 was born on 20 Jun 1858 in Waushara Co, WI.6,8 She was 1yr on the 1860 census and 12 years on the 1870 Census. She died on 12 Oct 1930 in Farmington, WI. Ada Adora "Addie" HERRICK was married to Porter HOLISTER on 2 Dec 1876 in Oasis, Waushara Co, WI. She was divorced from Porter HOLISTER. Ada Adora "Addie" HERRICK and Porter HOLISTER had the following children:
A. Jessie HOLISTER5 was born on 4 Jul 1884. He (or she) died on 10 Oct 1950.
Ada Adora "Addie" HERRICK was married to Herbert SAWYER on 30 Apr 1888.5 Ada Adora "Addie" HERRICK and Herbert SAWYER had the following children:
B. Louis SAWYER5 was born on 24 May 1891. He died on 24 May 1891.
C. Lyle SAWYER5 was born on 18 Mar 1893. He died on 23 Jan 1948.
D. Lottie SAWYER5 was born on 20 Aug 1894. She died on 16 Oct 1895.
E. Howard SAWYER5 was born on 9 May 1897. He died on 9 Aug 1957.
F. Laura SAWYER5 was born on 14 Aug 1898. She died on 14 Oct 1978.
III. Abigail HERRICK5 was born on 29 Sep 1859. She died on 4 Mar 1861.
IV. Ellen Elizabeth HERRICK5 was born on 20 Jul 1862 in Waushara Co, WI.6 She was 7 years on the 1870 Census. She died on 3 Oct 1921. Ellen was the ggrandmother of Al Holm, the family genealogist who sent the Herrick information.
Ellen Elizabeth HERRICK was married to Fred GREEN on 19 Apr 1883 in Berlin, Green Lake Co, WI.5 Fred GREEN5 served in the military between 1861 and 1865 in Civil War. He died before 1910. Ellen married her second husband in 1910. Fred was married twice before marrying Ellen. Ellen Elizabeth HERRICK and Fred GREEN had the following children:
A. Gertrude Amelia GREEN5 was born on 25 Apr 1891 in Mountain, WI. She died on 19 Nov 1922 in Tipler, WI.
Gertrude Amelia GREEN was married to Fred SCHROEDER on 8 Dec 1907 in Mountain, WI.5 Gertrude Amelia GREEN and Fred SCHROEDER had the following children:
1. Clara Genevieve SCHROEDER5 was born in 1911. She died on 14 Jan 1992. Clara died after a period of senility.
Clara Genevieve SCHROEDER was married to Edwin HOWEN on 30 Jul 1928 in Tipler, WI.5 They had 15 children.
Clara Genevieve SCHROEDER was married to Lorenzo HAUSE about 1974.5
2. Irene SCHROEDER5 was born on 13 Mar 1913. She died on 6 Oct 1913.
B. Florence Angeline GREEN5 was born on 8 Aug 1893. She died on 27 Oct 1912.
C. Cora May GREEN5 was born on 18 Feb 1895 in Mountain, WI. Cora is Al Holm's grandmother. He is the genealogist who sent me the Herrick history.
Cora May GREEN was married to Charles CLOSE on 27 Mar 1914 in New Rome, WI.5 She was divorced from Charles CLOSE on 6 May 1920 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co, WI. He divorced her.
Cora May GREEN was married to August FONDER on 11 Aug 1921 in Mountain, WI.5 After the birth of their child in 1924, they split up. Cora disappeared after 1930. Al Holm's hopes to trace her. Cora May GREEN and August FONDER had the following children:
1. Helen Exina FONDER5 was born on 11 Jan 1924 in Tipler, WI. Helen is the mother of Al Holm, the genealogist who sent me the Herrick history. ......(Not sending his history)
Ellen Elizabeth HERRICK was married to James JEWELL on 29 Sep 1910 in Grand Rapids, Wood Co, WI.5 Grand Rapids is now Wisconsin Rapids. James JEWELL5 died before 1921. Ellen outlived him.
V. (Son) HERRICK died after 16 Jul 1870. He was born abt Apr/June 1870.6 Baby was 6 months old on 1870 Census.
VI. Emma HERRICK5 was born on 18 Jun 1874. She died on 27 Mar 1934 in Montain, WI. Al found no records of any children. The 1910 census indicateds she had been married once before, and was the mother of one child. She and Daniel could have had a child between 1904 and 1906 that died before 1910, which would not show up on the records.
Emma HERRICK was married to Daniel COLE on 7 Feb 1904 in Oconto Co, WI.5
VII. Frank HERRICK5 was born on 11 Aug 1878. He died on 18 Apr 1966.
