A Centenarian Dies

 

Christlieb Steinberg, grandfather of Fred Brehmer of Wittenberg, died recently in the town of Caledonia, Waupaca County, at the age of 101 years, 3 months and 21 days.  His living descendants number 2 sons, 1 daughter, 18 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren. 

 

Just think of the span of life from Christlieb’s Cradle to the grave.  At the time of his birth Napoleon Bonaparte had his foot on the neck of the German states.  Bismark was born after Mr Steinberg had become a 10 year old boy.  There was no such thing as unity among the German people – just a weak conglomeration of little principalities torn by petty jealousies.  Enterprise.
