Jump River Valley Historical Museum Opens For the Summer Season

 

DATE:   June 11 & 12 through August 27, 2011

TIME:   10 a.m.-3 p.m., 2nd & 4th Saturdays

LOCATION:   Catawba Town Hall, W9224 Hwy. 8, Catawba

The museum displays a variety of town & logging displays & artifacts covering the period between 1890-1940.

Permanent exhibits explore the history of lumbering in the area, farming, rural schooling, and homemaking.

Tours are also available by appointment.

ACTIVITIES:

Yesterday House is a log house built in 1886 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Liberty School was built 1919. Furnished with antiques, they offer a wonderful insight into the area's pioneer history. A Machine Shed is a new addition to the exhibit.

BARN DANCE

Dance in the haymow with music provided by a DJ.

Silent auction ends at 10 p.m.

Free refreshments of pie, ice cream and beverages.

The Yesterday House, Liberty School and Machine Shed will be open to visitors during the dance.

This is a fundraiser for German Settlement History, Inc.
