When you use this engine, please remember that many of the documents on this site are copied from originals from the 1800s and phonetics were not what they are now. Therefore, you might not find your family name spelled as you enter it.  I have one name that I have seen spelled nearly a dozen different ways, some not even close to the accepted spelling in my family.  So, if you know your ancestor was here during the time a document was generated (such as the census, land patents, etc.) and that information is on-line, try looking the old fashioned way, the spelling may be completely different.
