Directions for driving to the cemetery from Ellsworth, WI are:  take Highway 10 east of Ellsworth, go 4.6 miles on 10 from the junctions of Highway 10, 72 and 63, to a V.   Take gravel road to the right.  God just a short distance and turn right onto Herbert Road. (There may not be a street sign).  Follow Herbert Road for about 4.3 miles and turn left on Chestnut Road.  Go .6 miles and the church and cemetery are located on the right. The Salem Lutheran Cemetery was documented by Mikell Franzmeier and Reta Sanford on June 20, 1983.  In an interview on July 2, 1983 with Mr. and Mrs. Russell Larson, who have the cemetery records, and with Mrs. Margaret Hager, the following information was received: When someone belonged to Salem Lutheran Church, they automatically received a cemetery lot with 8 burial sites. The Salem Lutheran Cemetery Association began 31 Jan 1952, although the cemetery was used from the beginning of the church, which was approximately 90 years ago.   The church was closed in 1971 due to lack of members, and the records are presently with Mr. & Mrs. Russell Larson, R.R., Maiden Rock, WI. No information other than the perpetual care records and the plot map are kept by the association.  Mr. William M. Moran started the  perpetual care idea for the cemetery.   He and his son, John W. Moran, Sr., surveyed the cemetery (about 1941) and drew up the map which is presently being used by the association. Information received from the Cemetery Association records which differed from that actually on the gravestones is included.  Additional information received during the interview is marked with an *. *************************************************************************** Surname Name Dates Notes Anderson Albert 1878-1961 *Cousin to Delanders Anderson Andrew - - Anderson Arthur H. 1899-1976 -  " August 1848-1924 -  " Mathilda 1862-1946 -  " David W. 1951-1976 -  " Margaret 1932-1953 *w/o Willard  " Olaf H. 1890-1969 -  " Willard M. 1914-1976 *h/o Margaret  " William R. 4 Jun 1904-3 Apr 1945 WI Pvt 916 Field Arty BN WWII Anderson Joyce M. 10 May 1916-23 May 1939 - Anderson Mates 1818-1900 (This stone was not listed on association map.
