Foster Cemetery Pierce County, Wisconsin *************************************************************************** The cemetery known as the "The Foster Cemetery" is located southwest of the River Falls City. Take Maple Street west and follow it to the end, turn left, and drive down to the city sewage plant. Park your car here and walk south, then west to the top of the hill beside the river, (overlooking the lower dam). The paths are overgrown and poison ivy is abundant in the area!! The walk should be no further than 1/2 to 3/4 miles, depending upon how you choose to approach the fenced hilltop. Steps do lead up to the cemetery from the river side, but these have become hidden with overgrowth. The Foster Cemetery was the burial ground for the Trinity Episcopal Church of River Falls, and although no longer an active cemetery, is still under the jurisdiction of the Episcopal Diocese. After the Greenwood Cemetery was established in River Falls, some families chose to move the bodies of relatives from Foster to Greenwood. Money was given to the Trinity Church for perpetual care of the cemetery. During the summer of 1983, a group of students visited the cemetery and found it to be in fair condition, with an excellent fence around the burial ground. The existing stones were in good condition and an inventory of those stones follows. It is understood that some stones have been removed by vandals and records of the cemetery were not available at River Falls. According to Mrs. Earl (Letha) Foster, all the people still buried in the cemetery are related in some manner to Eli Foster. *************************************************************************** This web site and its contents in the format presented, except where otherwise noted on the page, are copyrighted by Debbie Barrett and may not be copied, altered, converted nor uploaded to any electronic system or BBS, nor linked from any "pay-for-view" site, linked in such a manner as to appear to be part of another site including "frame" capturing, nor included in any software collection or print collection of any type without the express written permission of the author of this site, namely, Debbie Barrett.
