 Town of EGG HARBOR

* Egg Harbor Town Cemetery*

 (& St. John the Baptist Cath. # 1 Cemetery)

1977 & 2008/2009 Photo Survey & some OBITUARIES + Contributions

29 Jun 2013

* YOU WILL FIND THE LOCATION OF THE EGG HARBOR TOWN CEMETERY ON THE TOWN OF EGG HARBOR MAPS PAGE! *

LOCATION:  SW Corner NW1/4 SW1/4 Section 30, Town of Egg Harbor.  On the East side of Highway 42 just as you enter the village of Egg Harbor from the South.  Although it is shown on the map as being part of St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery and the Egg Harbor Town Cemetery, all the information received shows that it is only one cemetery and that is the Egg Harbor Town Cemetery.  The land was purchased for the cemetery as needed and the marker of Egg Harbor Town Cemetery is in the center.  It is maintained in good condition.

The 1977 Transcription was made by Judy SRNKA, Eileen SLABY and Beverly DIEFENBACH and typed by Sally TREICHEL-all of the W.S.O.C.S.

It has been retyped by Sue HOHNEKE for the PGS Website. and was incorporated into this 2008/2009 PHOTO SURVEY.  The dates on stones have been revised where needed to read: dd-mmm-yyyy for continuity on the PGS Website. Some stones that existed in the 1977 Transcription do not exist or are broken/and or illegible in 2008-2009 but are noted in this index as: - 1977 Transcrip.

22 Apr 2009: Partial Index from pictures taken Nov 2008 by Sue HOHNEKE-location not noted -most were from the Right Section-Rear and Hill.

11 Nov 2009-the final picture of the MIKELS stone back in the middle section that had been missing has been taken this day and added to this index.

MULLER, F. E. FRANZ/Son of H. & P. MULLER/Born 9 Jan 1865-Died 11 Jun 1877. - 1977 Transcrip., picture of stone contributed by Teri MILLER LeMERE on 8 May 2013. D. C. Advocate-14 Jun 1877 Article: "SHOCKING OCCURENCE-One of the saddest and most shocking occurrences that we have been called on to chronicle for some time, happened in the town of Egg Harbor, this county, last Monday, the 11th inst., and which resulted in the instant death of a little boy.  It appears that Mr. Henry MILLER, of that town, was busied in cleansing a gun on the day in question, which happened to be leaded with buckshot, and while so engaged, the weapon was accidentally discharged and the load entered the right jaw of his thirteen-year old son, who happened to be in close proximity, killing him instantly.  We have been unable to learn fuller particulars of the distressing accident."
