| Kaukauna Times, Kaukauna, WI, October 1, 1909 J. A. FIELD is down from Oconto. Ted T. JONES, of Minneapolis, was in the city overnight. Miss Selina GOELVER of Plymouth, is the guest of Miss Hazel LUTZ. Edward HERMAN has returned from a two months' stay in Oshkosh. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard BRADY last Monday night, a daughter. Fred W. WOELZ returned home yesterday from a trip through the east. Miss Alberta AMES was at Shawano today visiting the schools of that place. A. H. ZECHIEL, of the Anti-Saloon league, will preach in Ellington and Black Creek next Sunday. Mrs. John McCARTHY and Mrs. Frank BELLEW left this morning for Gladstone, Mich., on a visit with friends. Mrs. George CATLIN and daughter, Dolores, are visiting Mrs. CATLIN's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John TROST, in Menasha. Edward LANGE, bookkeeper in John STEVENS' office was taken suddenly ill with appendicitis yesterday and operated on last night. Edward BURMEISTER has returned from Onalaska, near LaCrosse, where he was employed for a year with his father on the construction of a school. Miss Maud WHEELER, a graduate of Lawrence in the class of '96, who has recently returned from China where she has been a missionary, is visiting in the city. Earl BATES has returned from a year and a half's sojourn in the West. He worked on cattle ranches in Wyoming, sheep ranches in Montana and in the wheat fields of the Dakotas. Dr. John FAVILLE and F. J. HARWOOD went to the town of Maine this morning to attend the dedication of the new Congregational church at that place. Dr. FAVILLE preached the dedicatory sermon. Mrs. Vergil BUELL and daughter, Nona, of Kalamazoo, Mich., have arrived here and are visiting with Mrs. BUELL's sister, Mrs. ESCHNER. Mrs. BUELL will be well remembered here as Miss Carrie SCHMIDT. A city football team will be organized Sunday and commence practice Monday afternoon. Joseph HECKEL has the matter in charge and has already secured games with Waupaca, Green Bay, fond du Lac and Ashland. Mr. HECKEL says he has several of the former Company I, Neenah, players for the team. For the first time in fifty-three years Mrs. Frances EBERT, of this city, mother of Mrs. J. A. KRONSER, has seen her sister, Mrs. Johanna SCHLOSSER of Nebraska. Mrs. SCHLOSSER, together with her sister, Mrs. Anton KOMMER and her two daughters, Mrs. Emil SCHMIDT and Mrs. Michael HENK, all of Nebraska, are now visiting Mrs. EBERT. Contractor N. A. GMEINER has purchased a concrete mixer, to be used in the work on the cold storage building of the S. C. SHANNON company. The building is to be entirely of concrete. The old building on the site of the new one is now being torn down, and the construction of the new building will begin next week. Kaukauna Times, Kaukauna, WI, Oct 27, 1909 ELLINGTON News Pat WALLACE, proprietor of the Gopher hill factory, attended the dairy convention at Milwaukee a few days last week, and purchased a two-seated auto while there, with which he returned home Saturday. Mrs. H. KLITZKE was a Neenah visitor last week. Some of the farmers are getting interested in raising cabbage, from all appearances. R. TIMM and M. McKEEVER were Appleton callers last Saturday. A very few noisy colts got lost last Sunday evening on our streets. The "farmer" ought to keep order on Sunday next time. Mrs. J. KERSTEN is on the sick list. KAUKAUNA NEWS Robert HAMILTON, Jr., and his mother are planning to leave about the first of November, for Phoenix, Arizona. They will remain there during the coming winter and if Robert finds the climate beneficial to his health he will undoubtedly locate there. Rev. William HINNENTHAL has quite a number of red raspberry bushes which are growing a second crop of berries. Several quarts of berries have been picked. Miss Laura REEVES, of Grand Rapids, spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Frank SOLAR. Mrs. Silas BUCK arrived Tuesday from Phillips, to spend few days with her sister, Miss BUTLER, and her brothers, Frank and George. Miss Della SULLIVAN, of Milwaukee, is spending the week with her sister, Mrs. W. N. NOLAN. Mrs. S. M. ENGHOLDT and daughter, Alice, left Tuesday for Wausau, to spend two weeks with her sister, Mrs. David KIRKWOOD. Mrs. Charles SIEFERT returned to her home in Green Bay Monday after a several days' visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George FARGO. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. CROWE, and Miss Eunice THOMPSON were Appleton visitors Tuesday. J. A. WATSON is in Chicago on business. Miss Henrietta BRIGHAM, who is attending Lawrence college at Appleton, spent Sunday with H. S. COOK and family. B. W. HAYES has purchased Clarence DIRRIM's sawing machine. Miss Lottie McCARTHY was the guest of Appleton relatives Sunday. Miss Jennie RINGLUND who is a nurse at the Deaconess Sanitarium, Green Bay, spent Monday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl RINGLUND. F. M. CHARLESWORTH, oil inspector, was in New London, Monday and Appleton Tuesday. Manager VEASEY, of Hotel LaSalle, expects to open a restaurant in the near future in the REGENFUSS building on Lawe street. |
