Orphan Train - Wisconsin

 

Marshfield News, Thursday, December 4, 1890, page 8, column 3:

"Stevens Point Journal: The Wisconsin Central passenger train that arrived here on Thursday morning brought an extra coach containing between eighty-five and ninety homeless children from a charitable institution in Chicago. They were in charge of three ladies, and were distributed at the various stations along the line. Fourteen of the little ones were left here and were adopted by Polish people living in this city and vicinity."
