This is three generations of my family tree. My ancestor William Dodge came to Marathon County in 1854.

WILLIAM EDWIN 19 DODGE (MARTIN18, SOLOMON17, THOMAS16, JOHN15, JOHN14, JOHN "CAPT"13, WILLIAM 3-112, JOHN11, JOHN10, OLIVER9, MICHAEL8, WILLIAM7, WILLIAM6, WILLIAM5, ROBERT4, RALPH3, GEORGE2, PETER1) was born 11 August 1826 in McDonough, Chenango County, NY1,2, and died 21 June 1903 in Wausau Wi3. He married SARAH R. WRIGHT 08 August 1869 in Wausau Wi4, daughter of WILLIAM WRIGHT and MARY WATTLES. She was born 04 July 1854 in Saginaw,Saginaw County, MI, and died 24 February 1915 in Wausau Wi5.
There are several discrepancies about his age. The Family Bible has 1827 - his death certificate says 1826. His enlistment papers says he is 32 in 1861, year of birth 1829 . His discharge says he was 34 in 1865 - year of birth would then be 1831. The Federal Census of 1880 gives his age as 46 making the year of his birth as 1834. I think he was 42 when he was married in 1869 to 16 year old Sarah. According to the 1860 census, he was 28, making the year of birth 1832. According to the 1870 census, he was 35, born in 1835.
So we have -- 1826, 1827, 1829, 1831, 1832, 1834, and 1835. Quite a range.
He came to Marathon County in 1854 to "engage in logging".

He married (1) HEDWIG "HARRIET" LOUISE WOLFF7 30 April 1900 in Town of Weston, WI8, daughter of CARL WOLFF and EARNESTINE HOFFMANN. She was born 09 March 1875 in Frankfurt Germany, and died 03 October 1915 in Wausau Wi9. He married (2) BESSIE MINNIE WENTE10 19 December 1916 in Wausau, Marathon County, WI11, daughter of CHRISTIAN WENTE and MINNIE SCHMIDT. She was born 10 November 1884 in Wausau, Marathon County, WI12, and died 24 January 1947 in Wausau, Marathon County, WI12.
Notes for WILLIAM EDWIN DODGE:
William was in all bodies of Masonry, Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem, Knights of Pythias, Elks, Wausau Club, and a Trustee of Masonic Lodge
He was first a machinist at Murray Mfg. Co., then a feed salesman on August 1, 1898.
Notes for HEDWIG "HARRIET" LOUISE WOLFF:
The Wolff's lived on a farm that is near the Rothschild paper mills at 1411 Lily Lane, Schofield, Wi. It is still (1997) in existence, and some of the family lives there yet.
Harriet's real name was Hedwig, but she liked Harriet better. She came to America on the SS Hohenstaufen - from Bremen which arrived June 3, 1883 at the Port of Baltimore. List number JJ-98-12
Her age was listed as 5, but she was 8. It was cheaper for children under a certain age, so her parents lied about the children's ages.
She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star.

Bessie was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and White Shrine, Ladies Aid, Ladies, Literary and was a Worthy Matron of O. E. S.
