We are delighted to have you as a member of the La Crosse Area Genealogical Society. We hope that you will be able to attend our regular scheduled monthly meetings held on the fourth Tuesday of each month except for January, July, August, and December. The meetings are held at the La Crosse Public Library, 800 Main Street, La Crosse, at 6:00pm. It is our goal to make these meetings interesting and informative. Please feel free to bring your questions to the meetings or write to us at the above address. Attached are several items that we wish you to fill out and return to the Society. First, please fill out a copy of the questionnaire if you live close to La Crosse. This will help the officers of the Society in finding regular volunteers. Second, fill out a "Family Group Chart,"(p. 1 and p. 2) a "Surname Index Card" and an "Ancestor Chart". Eventually, this information will be published in our Quarterly. Third, to help you in compiling your data, we have enclosed an article by Anita Palmquist entitled "Standards for Recording Genealogical Information on Family Group Sheets and Ancestor Charts". We believe this information is very helpful in standardizing your data. Finally, please enclose a check for $20 per person (or $25 per family) for membership. We strongly urge you to visit our website, sites.rootsweb.com/~wilacgs, which contains an enormous wealth of information. Hopefully, we will get the opportunity to meet you in person at a later date. If not, we enjoy corresponding with our out-of-town members! |
