Alexander G. Gibbon arrived in New York about July of 1838 (according to his naturalization papers, petition #340 filed in the district court in Racine). Accompanying him were his wife, Elspeth (Spence) Gibbon, his in-laws and his sister, Sophia. Alexander Gibbon, his wife and his in-laws are all buried in the cemetery at Somers. Sophia, my ancestress, married Seymour Clinton Keeler, who was the captain of a ship on the Great Lakes and often called at "Westport" now called Kenosha, WI.
Alexander and Elspeth had at least one child, David Scott Gibbon who married Mary L. Bowker or Bowkin (daughter of Myron B and Lydia M. Bowker/Bowkin on August 25, 1887 (Certificate # 02470). David Gibbon died 3 Nov. 1900 (Registration # 00281) He was born in the US on 24 Feb 1858 in Somers, WI also according to the death registration.
