INSURANCE CLAIMS SETTLED TODAY
Award $5030 for Damage to Grant School
PAY FACE OF CHURCH POLICY
Milwaukee Companies Pay Full Amount of Policy on St. Joseph’s – Loss on Fixtures.

A settlement upon the loss incurred upon the Grant school building was effected with the insurance companies this morning. The amount paid to the city was $5030.06. The building and grounds committee of the school board considers the settlement a fair one.

The first company to pay over insurance money on St. Joseph’s church was the Milwaukee Mechanics which effected settlement through the C. L. Handt agency this afternoon for the full amount of the policy without discount. The policy was for $2500. The adjuster was R. E. Replinger who estimates the loss on the building at $32,000.

This afternoon the adjusters were busy determining the loss upon the furniture and apparatus used in Grant school. But one policy for $1,000 was carried, while the school board estimates the loss at from $1,200 to $1,500.

It is likely that St. Joseph’s congregation will not start rebuilding the church until next spring, however all plans and arrangements for rebuilding will be made during the winter months. If satisfactory arrangements can be made mass will be celebrated every Sunday during the winter at Armory E. This building appears to be the best suited to the needs of the congregation at this time. Rev. M. J. Taugher may arrange to have a chapel in his temporary residence on East Second street.
