HANDSOME CHURCH TO RISE FROM RUIN
Congregational Society Names Committees For Active Work
ENGAGED THE HENRY BOYLE
Preaching Services to Be Held There on Sundays – Building and Finance Committees Named.

Preliminary steps toward the restoration of the Congregational church were taken at a largely attended meeting of the Congregational society held Monday evening at the Presbyterian church. It was decided to rebuild and accordingly committees were named to take immediate charge of the work. Members of the congregation freely expressed their ideas concerning a new church, and it is evident from the sentiment of the meeting that the new edifice will be a handsome structure modern and convenient in every respect.

The details of the building remain to be worked out, and it is not decided definitely whether the present walls of the old church will be used in rebuilding or whether they will be razed to permit the building of an entirely new church. The building committee was instructed to protect the present walls from further damage until it can be ascertained what will be done with them. The general meeting Monday evening was preceded by a meeting of the trustees held at 4:30 o’clock in the afternoon. At this time the trustees engaged the Henry Boyle theater for the preaching services Sundays, and Rev. L. H. Keller and D. D. Sutherland were appointed to make arrangements for the other services including those of the Sunday school and the week day prayer service.

The evening meeting was presided over by G. I. Susan, while Charles Hotaling acted as secretary. The building committee to secure plans for the new church and to submit them to the congregation for their approval was named as follows: W. W. Collins, W. I Hamilton, P. B. Haver, C. L. Hastings, and G. I. Susan.

The committee on finance was appointed as follows: D. D. Sutherland, F. M. Givens, J. C. Whittlesey, E. J. Huber, W. W. Hughes, Mrs. N. S. Gilson and Miss Minnie Knapp.
