James French, Boone Ave., Winchester, Kentucky (He has stories of Indians) such as, 1778 Massacre, Boonsboro. This is the one that a Wells man was killed in defending Boone, I think. Mr. French told me on phone, Margarete Wells married Callaway & he was a famous Col. I believe, then moved to Winchester, Tenn. Married or moved in 179-.
[Note from Orin Wells: The Wells who was killed was Capt. Samuel Wells, Sr. who was killed by an Indian and his son, Samuel, stopped the Indian from scalping his father.
