The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) web site is a good source of land records. The SEARCH PAGE allows a visitor to enter the name of an individual and, if the reasearcher is REALLY lucky, he or she will find the DATE of the land grant and the file numbers to use to order the full papers.

To obtain the information in the table below, I did not enter specific surnames; instead I entered "Township 29 N, Range 4 E" - the Cedar Valley area. Eight screens of data were returned. I did not include in the table the names of individuals who were listed with more than five grants (Mssrs. POPE and TALBOT, e.g.).

DO visit the BLM search site if your target individual had a "land grant" in Snohomish County!

Many thanks to fellow SnoCo researcher, Sharon, for letting me know about the BLM site!

Sharon (BLESS HER !) has volunteered to compile a data base of "rural" Snohomish County residents which will provide Section-Township-Range information for each individual as well as the number of acres owned, the assessed valuation and the Post Office address! This will enable SnoCo researchers to pinpoint the location of an ancestor's property, and may even help with census searches.
