Soldiers on Grand Parade

Our chapter is involved in many projects that support the objectives of historic preservation, education, and patriotism of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

American Indian
We recognize America's first people and how the Native American Indians shaped our culture by our support of the Chemawa Indian School in Salem, Oregon.

American History Essay Awards
To promote American History and honor historically significant people, places, and events, our chapter sponsors the American History essay contests for local students in grades 5-8, and the Christopher Columbus essay contest for students in grades 9-12.

Through various service awards, May Hutton Chapter works with the National Society of DAR to recognize citizens who have contributed to our community in an outstanding voluntary, heroic, civil, or benevolent manner.

Our chapter members are committed to the preservation of birds, wildlife, and plant life native to our area. We participate in tree planting and maintaining backyard wildlife sanctuaries along with recycling, water conservation, and protection of all our natural resources.

This marks the occasion and serves as an encouragement to underscore the rights and responsibilities of citizenship that we all share as Americans. To help immigrants become naturalized citizens the DAR has compiled and published the DAR Manual For Citizenship (PDF).
