Research Assistance

EGS will provide look-ups for members living outside King County, WA, at no charge other than copy and mail costs. Non-members will be charged $10 for each name searched. King County residents are encouraged to use the research assistance provided at Bellevue Regional Library, 2nd floor room 6, on the 1st and 5th Tuesday Evenings from 7 to 9 PM and every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3 PM. Using The King County Library

Eastside Genealogical Society has contributed time and money to build the Genealogy Reference Collection at Bellevue Regional Library. Our annual budget puts at $800 into this resource. You can access all the genealogy materials by using the library catalog at http://www.kcls.org

1. Reference books can be ordered through Interlibrary Loan and you can use them at the library. Circulating books can be ordered for check out.
2. Databases include Ancestry and Heritage Quest which provide census records and many more books.
3. KCLS has an on-line guide which has one category for Genealogy. Sites like Ellis Island and Ships are on this page.
4. Newspapers, magazines, and society newsletters are either in the stacks or in the Genealogy Vertical Files at Bellevue Regional Library.

5. Research Assistance is provided at Bellevue Regional Library by EGS volunteers on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 PM and Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 3 PM.

Policy on Queries

Queries regarding the availability of local resources must be made by regular mail and must include a SASE (Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope). Volunteers will assess requests and respond, as time is available. The Eastside Genealogy Society will not respond to queries made by email asking for research to be done.
