Goals and Purpose of the Eastside Genealogical Society |

The Eastside Genealogical Society serves communities east of Seattle, King County, Washington including but not limited to Woodinville, Bothell, Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, Newport Hills, Mercer Island, Renton, Issaquah, Carnation, Fall City, Duvall, North Bend, Sammamish and associated unincorporated areas. The EGS provides members a forum for learning and the exchange of information related to genealogy. It obtains and provides resources for use by members, encourages genealogical research and documentation and aids in organizing and computerizing local records related to genealogy. The Society provides a number of services for the community. EGS volunteers work in the Bellevue Regional Library twice a week and are available to anyone. Beginning and intermediate genealogy classes are offered in local Senior Centers, in the local library and for EGS members and anyone interested in genealogy. Volunteers also staff booths at various community functions to provide materials and to answers questions regarding genealogy. MeetingsThe society meets eleven times a year on the second Thursday of the month (no meeting in December) at 7:00 p.m. in the Bellevue Regional Library. Books and publications are available at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are designed to provide useful information to both the newcomer and the veteran. See the Coming Events Calendar for specific information. The Eastside Genealogical Society was founded in 1978 and chartered in 1982 and is a member of the Federation of Genealogy Societies. It has now grown to about 400 members with nine active Special Interest Groups. MembershipMembership is open to anyone wishing to pursue genealogy. The newsletter, the Eastside Genealogical Society Bulletin Board, is published 11 times a year and is sent to all members. Use the print option of your browser to print this .
