GREAT POTLUCK! Thank you to each of you for celebrating our heritage with yummy ethnic dishes! Forty-ish of us attended. The best ever fellowship and sharing. Thank you to Jerry Callahan for taking the group picture.

It was a great pleasure to have Marjorie Bianco Vernon introduce Bonita Filmore, WFLA Director of this region. Bonita is from the Malin, Oregon area where the Jiternice Festival is put on every President's Day weekend Sunday! WFLA is the Western Fraternal Life Association http://www.wflains.org/

World-renowned for his award-winning children's books, a seven-time winner of the New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year and author recently of the Caldecott Honor Book, The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain, he is here this evening with his first full book for adults, his own illustrated adaptation of the classic, 12th-century Sufi fable by Fariduddin Attar of the human journey, The Conference of the Birds (Penguin Press). STEVE SOUCEK has been collecting and organizing his family history information into a notebook. Other familymemeber s have beendoing the same and are sharing with him. SO THE JAN 7TH MEETING WILL BE AOBUT ORGANIZING YOUR INFORMATION INTO BOOKS/ALBUMS/NOTEBOOKS.

KAROL OSUSKY & BETTELINN BROWN have connected via Bettelinn's grandson who is on the kayka team Karol teaches.

GEORGE and JARI are using the Czech Regional Archives to research their families. SO THE FEB. 11TH MEETING WILL BE ABOUT RESEARCHING THE CZECH AND SLOVAK ARCHIVES ONLINE USING THESE SITES.

MARTHA LISKA told second hand a story of a Jewish survivor during WWII form a fellow on their tour of Slovakia.

NORB ZIEGLER shared his klobasa soup recipe and ROSIE BODIEN shared her recipe for Moravian Red Cabbage.
