Allen Cemetery

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village, go south on Route 110 about 2-1/4 miles to East Randolph Road. Turn right onto East Randolph Road and go about 1-1/2 miles to Hook Road. Turn right onto Hook Road and go about 1-1/3 miles. The cemetery should be on the left.

Blaisdell-Laird-Ladd Cemetery

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village, go south on Route 110 about 3/4 mile and turn left onto Jenkins Brook Road. Follow Jenkins Brook Road about  2-3/4 miles to the cemetery From VT Route 113 it is about 1 mile to Hall Road on the left. Stay on Jenkins Brook Road for another ½ mile to a “y” in the road. Stay to the left on Jenkins Brook Road.for about ½ mile to Vershire Center Road on the left. Stay straight ahead on Jenkins Brook Road for about ¾ mile to the cemetery. You may have passed a couple of driveways. I haven’t visited this cemetery so cannot verify the condition of the roads.

Boardman Cemetery

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village, go south on Route 110 about 3 miles. Turn left and go through the Flint covered bridge. Turn right onto Bicknell Hill Road for about 1 mile to Harolyn Hill Road. Turn right onto Harolyn Hill Road for about 1 mile to Old County Road. Turn left onto Old County Road and go a little les than 1/2 mile. Durkee Road will be on the left. The cemetery is located near the intersection of Old County Road and Durkee Road. Due to the uncertainty of the status of the roads leading to this cemetery, a survey trip must be made. Private property may be involved so please respect the landowners wishes.

A letter dated May 2, 1999 from Robert S. Childs to the Chelsea Town Clerk says the cemetery is located just off Durkee Drive (Town Road 72), Not quite two tenths of a mile west of the intersection of Durkee Drive and County Road (Town Road 3) on the west side of Durkee Drive is a seasonal dwelling. The two headstones are about 20 feet from the north/west corner of that building and are about 7 feet westerly of the road.

There are two stones here. The first reads:

1801
Here rests the remains of Mr Stephen Boardman
who departed this life, Sept 3d 1801 in his 30 year

This slate stone has flaked off from the letter "r" in the word "year" to ground level.

The other headstone, also slate, has eroded to the point that only a letter "M" with the letters "Boa man" are readable.

Corwin Cemetery

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village go east on Route 113 to Lyford Drive. The Corwin Cemetery is situated at the end of Lyford Drive on a side hill under two maple trees and is very difficult to reach. The landowner did escort me to the site but I would advise visitors to attempt to reach it only if they are in the best of health. There is no path to the cemetery, one must make their own trail through waist high weeds. The hill is steep and difficult to climb. The cemetery is about 1/4 mile from the farm buildings. There are two stones lying on the ground.

One stone reads:

        In memory of
        Mrs Mary
        wife of
        Daniel Blodgett
        who died Oct 29 1799

Flint Cemetery

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village, go south on Route 110 about 2-1/4 miles to East Randolph Road. Turn right onto East Randolph Road and go about 1-1/4 miles to Brook Road. Turn right onto Brook Road and go about 3-1/4 miles to Flint Place. The cemetery is at this intersection. Cemetery is said to be behind a house and blue toolshed.

Gilman Burials

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village, go north on Route 110 about 1/2 mile to Corinth Road and turn right. Go up Corinth Road about 1-9/10 miles to Richardson Hill Road on the left. Turn left onto Richardson Hill Road and go about

2/10 mile. The cemetery appears to be in a tree line on the right.

Goodridge Cemetery

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village, go north on Route 110 about 3-3/4 miles to Edwards Road and turn left. Go up Edwards Road 3 miles to the intersection of Williamstown Road and Hopkins Road. Stay to the left on Hopkins Road about 3/4 mile to Cemetery Street. Turn sharp right onto Cemetery Street and go about 1/4 to 1/2 mile. It is expected that the road will become impassible. Watch for abandoned cellar holes. The cemetery is nearby in the woods. Note: this road is also known as Lighthouse Hill Road. A local guide is recommended.

 Alternate Route:

Follow directions to West Hill. Go west on Chelsea Road 1-1/2 miles to Creamery Street. Turn right onto Creamery Street and go north about 1-9/10 miles to end of road. VOCA books says go north about 225 yards past last house. Cemetery is about 80 yards east of the old road and is behind some cellar holes.

Highland Cemetery

From the intersection of VT Route 110 and VT Route 113 in the center of Chelsea village go south on VT Route 110 about 1/4 mile and turn left onto Creamery Road. The cemetery is about 1/10 mile on the left.

Turn left and follow Edwards Road about 3/10 mile to Gilman Hill Road on the left. Follow Gilman Hill Road about 1-1/4 miles to just before Dodge Road on the left. The cemetery is said to be in clump of bushes about 240 yards south of the road.

Wallace Cemetery

This cemetery will require the use of a local guide as it is located some distance in a wooded area 1/2 mile from a travelled road.

A letter dated May 9, 1999 from Robert S. Childs to the Chelsea Town Clerk says the cemetery is located off the Beedle Road (Town Road 59). Traveling in an easterly direction from the junction of T. R. 60 and T. R. 59, proceed to the first brook that crosses the road. Just before the brook on the left (northerly) is an old roadway. About 50 yards up this road is an old cellar hole on the left. Continue past the cellar hole staying on the old roadway for another 50 yards crossing an old stone culvert to a junction in the old roadway. Take the right fork (easterly) approximately 50 yards to the burial ground.

An alternate route, should the roadway become overgrown, is to travel easterly up the brook from T. R. 59 approximately 150 yards. The cemetery is located about 20 yards from the brook on the left (northerly) side.

The cemetery was rebuilt in the fall of 1998 by relatives of individuals buried here. They have removed the old stones and erected new granite stones as well as erecting a new picket fence about two feet in height.

Facing the stones and reading the stones left to right, the inscriptions are as follows:

     JOHN CYRENE ANDREW
     McARTHUR BAILEY McARTHUR
