The Virginia Vital Records office has records of births, deaths and marriages since 1853 except the years 1896-1912.  Visit their Web site for more information including how to obtain copies of these certificates.

The archives division at The Library of Virginia has copies of surviving birth and death records prior to 1896 and marriage records prior to 1936.  These are on microfilm and are available through inter-library loan or viewing on premises.  For further information visit their  web site.
