2016 Garden Week in Surry - A Message from our President, Mary Padgett
As you trek through the Virginia countryside for Garden Week the last week in April, this year, visit the Surry County Virginia Historical Society and Museums, Inc. properties and Savor the Secrets of Surry. The community has benefitted from the generosity of the Surry Garden Club with the installation of a FROG BOG and landscape design/implementation at the Historical Society property, 281 Bank Street in the village of Surry. The FROG BOG compliments the adjacent, recently restored Capt. John Smith ferry deckhouse. Both the deckhouse and the Surry Historical Museum will be open for Garden Week during regular business hours Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, the adjoined Rogers and Gwaltney Stores, a Virginia historical landmark, ca. 1894, also a property of the Surry Historical Society, located at the intersection of Otterdam and Carsley Roads will be open for tours during Garden Week on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 10 am. To 4 p.m. We look forward to meeting you this spring!
