The Annual meeting of the Surry County, Virginia, Historical Society and Museums, Inc. will be held at the Surry Recreation Center on Monday, May 8, 2000 at 7:00 P.M. Please mark your calender. This is our annual meeting. Yes, we are two years old. We will have election of officers and board members at this meeting. As stated in Article VII of our bylaws, a nominating committee was appointed by the board at their February meeting. Its members are: Claude Reeson, Eve Gregory, Nancy Hughes, Lilly Fields, Gordan Bohannon and Faye Savedge, alternate. The nominating committee presents the following slate of candidates for election to the designated offices for a two year term to end in May 2002.
The nominating committee presents the following slate of candidates for election of three directorships for a three year term to end in May 2003.
Pursuant to Article VII of our Bylaws, additional names of candidates for all positions may be nominated from the floor of the annual meeting. All nominees shall have consented to serve if elected. Our Speaker will be Suzanne Owen Flippo, chair of Programs and Events of the 2007 Jamestown settlement. She will inform us of plans for Jamestown 2007. For more information, click HERE.
