50th Class Reunion Held

     The 1929 Class of former Nickelsville High School had its 50th reunion Saturday, May 26 at the Olde Towne House Restaurant in Nickelsville, where they enjoyed a delicious lunch in the dining room decorated in class colors of blue and white. It was the first reunion since graduation. It was held jointly with the Class of 1928.

     There were 16 graduates, thirteen of whom are living. Eleven of these attended the reunion. They were Areletta Addington Broadwater Nickelsville; Reba Howard, Abingdon, Va.; Allie Moore Powell, Etowoh, Tenn.; Kate Moore Lopez, Gate City; Ethel Wheatly Brown, Nickelsville; Orbie Baker, Kingsport; Lester Blankenbeckler, Weber City; Dennis Fugate, Kingsport; John Kilgore, Coeburn; Kenneth Meade, Kingsport; Siebert Meade, Telford, Tenn.

     Those unable to attend were Jewell Frazier Meade, Weber City and Irene McConnell Sweet, Mt. Carmel, Tenn.

     After lunch most of the group went to the new elementary school where they enjoyed the cake that had been made especially for them by the Olde Towne House Restaurant, decorated in class colors.

     Invited guests were, Mrs. Orbie Baker, Sam Howard, Claude Innis, Mrs. Lester Blankenbeckler, Mrs. Dennis Fugate, Mrs. John Kilgore, Henry Lopez, Mrs. Kenneth Meade, Mrs. Seibert Meade and Luke Powell, Mr. and Mrs. Clancy Meade. Mr. Meade was a teacher in the senior year. He graduated from Nickelsville High School in 1926.

     Deceased class members are Claude Cowden, Everett Vicars and Claude Hartsock.
