My great grandfather, James Tazewell GOODSON, was born in Floyd County.  His father was James Crawford GOODSON, whose middle name had been the family name of his mother, Mary CRAWFORD.  I have never been able to find where James Tazewell GOODSON's middle name came from.  I thought perhaps it may be from some connection to the TAZEWELL family.  Tazewell County was named for Henry TAZEWELL (U.S. Senator representing Virginia 1794-99), but I don't know where he was from.  If anyone doing research on the GRAHAM or CRAWFORD lines knows of any TAZEWELL family connection, I would sure appreciate hearing from you.   --  Thanks!

GOODSON, SANDEFUR

In the 1850 Floyd County, VA Census, page 415, is a William GOODSON family with five children, Viginia (age 23), Carolina (age 23), John (age 22), Sarah (age 20), & Mary A. (age 12).  The mother's name is not too clear, but it looks like either Amanda, Amanah, or possibly America.  I think the two oldest girls are the same two buried at the Pine Creek Cemetery.  There is also a William GOODSON grave nearby at the Pine Creek Cemetery.  Is this William GOODSON, father of Virginia and Carolina, the same William GOODSON who married America H. SANDEFUR in Patrick County on 7 Jan 1832  [Ref: AAI CD#4, Marriage Records: MD, N.C., VA - Virginia, Patrick - Screen 62]?   --  Thanks for any help!

I am looking for info on family of James Tazewell GOODSON (b. 16 Feb 1852 in Floyd County, VA; d. 21 Jul 1928 in Davy, WV), son of James GOODSON & Julia A. GRAHAM.  James & Julia were married in Floyd County on 1 Jan 1846.  James Tazewell GOODSON married Mary Lucinda "Lucy" CREASY [JOHNSON] in Montgomery County, VA on 10 Aug 1879.  James Tazewell GOODSON was the brother of Crawford GOODSON and Amelia GOODSON, both later of Montgomery County, VA.  Would like to know parents of James GOODSON & Julia A.
