Information Contained in Russian Death Records

  • First ColumnIf the decedent was a female, this number indicates the number of females whose deaths have been registered for the current year. In the case of the second record, this woman was the 16th female whose death was registered.
     
  • Second ColumnIf the decedent was a male, this number indicates the number of males whose deaths have been registered for the current year. In the case of the first record, this man was the 23rd male whose death was registered.
     
  • Third columnWhere died and buried.
     
  • Fourth columnDate and month of birth, according to the Christian calendar.
     
  • Fifth columnDate and month of birth, according to the Jewish calendars.
     
  • Sixth columnAge at death.
     
  • Seventh columnCause of death.
     
  • Name of decedentThis column may typically shows the surname and patronymic of a man or single woman, the given name of the husband of a married woman or widow. This column may indicate the decedent's home town (i.e. if he/she died there while visiting).
