	UNDERNEATH this stone lie the remains of WAKEMAN EDWARDS COOKE son of Samuel and Elizabeth Cooke of this Parish who died the 25^th day of May 1827 aged twenty Months. ALSO the remains of the above named SAMUEL COOKE who departed this life the 28^th day of Jan^y 1832 aged 42 Years. ALSO ELIZABETH EDWARDS Youngest Daughter of the Rev^d W^m Chichester formerly Rector of Georgeham Mother in law of the above Samuel Cooke who died the 12^th day of Oct^r 1834 Aged 76 Y^rs. TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN AFFECTIONATE MEMORY OF SAMUEL COOKE OF DODSCOTT WHO DIED JAN XXVIII MDCCCXXXII AGED XLII AND ELIZABETH COOKE HIS WIFE WHO DIED FEB XXVIII MDCCCLXII AGED LXXII	Wakeman Edwards COOKE, the son of Samuel COOKE (1789-1832) and Elizabeth EDWARDS (1792-1862), was baptised on 25 Oct 1825 in St Giles in the Wood. He was buried on 29 May 1827. Samuel COOKE, the son of George COOKE (1742-1821) and Elizabeth WALKEY (1755-1821), was baptised on 5 Jan 1789 in Atherington, Devon. He was buried on 3 Feb 1832. Elizabeth CHICHESTER, the daughter of William CHICHESTER (1722-1770) and Mary BALLYMAN (abt 1727-1760), was baptised on 16 Apr 1758 at Georgeham, Devon. Elizabeth was the granddaughter of Sir John CHICHESTER, 4th Baronet, of Youlston (1688-1740). She married William EDWARDS on 8 Feb 1786 at Barnstaple, Devon. Elizabeth was buried on 15 Oct 1834. Elizabeth EDWARDS, the daughter of William EDWARDS and Elizabeth CHICHESTER (1758-1834) was baptised on 26 Oct 1792 in Barnstaple, Devon. She married Samuel COOKE on 17 May 1823 in Northam, Devon.

	Heare Lieth the Body of Roge^r Blinsham of this pish who Dyed Y^e 28 of Novem 1589 Also of John Blinsham son of R B who Dyed 12^rth of August 1609 And also Richard Bli nsham son of J B who Dyed Y^e 17 of February 1613 Also Theophilius Blinsham Son of R B was buried March Y^e 13^th Ano Dom 1679 Also Mary his wife was Buried Y^e ____ 1680 Also John Blinsham of this Parish who departed this life the 13^th of January 1737 in the 86 year of his age And also y^e Remains of M^r Roger Blinsha^m of this Parish who Departed this life ye 2^d Day of Jan^ry 1766 Aged 75 Years.	Six generations of the BLINSHAM family are commemorated on this gravestone located in the north aisle of the church. The BLINSHAM family lived in St Giles in the Wood from at least the mid-16th century until the death of Theophilus BLINSHAM in 1818. Richard BLINSHAM, the son of John BLINSHAM (? -1609) was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 14 May 1570. Theophilus BLINSHAM, the son of Richard BLINSHAM (1570-1613) and Christian MATCOTT, was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 30 Aug 1600. John BLINSHAM, the son of Theophilus BLINSHAM (1600-1679) and Mary (? -1680), was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 27 May 1652. Roger BLINSHAM, the son of Henry BLINSHAM (1658-?) and Mary, and the nephew of John BLINSHAM (1652-1737) was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 17 Jan 1690 and was buried on 6 Jan 1766.

	Here lies y^e Body of M^r Theo- philus Blinsham of this Parish who die y^e last day of October 1742 in y^e 56^th year of his Age. And also Mary y^e Daughter of M^r Roger Blinsham & Grace his Wife who died y^e 9^th day of July 1747 in y^e 2^nd year of her Age. Also The South side of the Font M^r Henry Blinsham of the Parish of Monkokehampton and Brother of the above Theophilus Blinsham was buried April the 24^th 1764 Aged 75	Theophilus BLINSHAM, the son of Henry BLINSHAM (1658- ?) and Mary, was buried on 2 Nov 1742. Mary BLINSHAM, the daughter of Roger BLINSHAM (1690-1760) and Grace MATCOTT (1712-1787), was baptised on 10 Jul 1745 in St Giles in the Wood. Henry BLINSHAM, the son of Henry BLINSHAM (1658- ?) and Mary, was baptised on 14 Aug 1689 in St Giles in the Wood.

	SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF THEOPHILUS BLENSHAM GENT OF THIS PARISH WHO DIED THE 2^ND DAY OF JULY 1818 AGED 75 BEING THE LAST OF HIS FAMILY EXCEPT ONE SISTER HE MARRIED CHARLOTTE THE DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM MALLETT ESQUIRE OF ASH IN THE PARISH OF IDDESLEIGH ALSO ANNE BLINSHAM SISTER OF THE ABOVE T BLENSHAM DIED 21^ST OCT^R 1828 AGED 79	Theophilus BLINSHAM, the son of Roger BLINSHAM (1690-1760) and Grace MATCOTT (1712-1787), was baptised 12 May 1743 at St Giles in the Wood. He was buried on 6 Jul 1818. Anne BLINSHAM, the daughter of Roger BLINSHAM (1690-1760) and Grace MATCOTT (1712-1787), was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 10 Oct 1750 and was buried on 24 Oct 1828.
	HERE lie the Remains of THEOPHILUS BLINSHAM of this Parish, Gent who departed this life the 2nd day of July 1818 Aged 75 Years

	HERE lies the Remains of Grace the Wife of Mr. Roger Blinsham of this Parish was buried February the 6th 1787 Aged 74 Also Susanna Daughter of the above Roger and Grace Blinsham was buried Jan the 8th 1754 aged 1 Year and 4 Months	Grace MATCOTT, the daughter of John MATCOTT and Ann, was baptised at High Bickington, Devon on 17 Sep 1712. She married Roger BLINSHAM (1690-1760), the son of Henry BLINSHAM (1658- ?) and Mary at St Giles in the Wood on 8 Jul 1742. Her daughter, Susanna BLINSHAM, was baptised on 4 Oct 1753 at St Giles in the Wood and was buried on 3 Jan 1754.

	HERE lie the Remains of MARY BLINSHAM of the Parish who departed this life the 26th day of Oct. 1799 aged 54 Years.	Mary BLINSHAM, the daughter of Roger BLINSHAM (1690-1760) and Grace MATCOTT (1712-1787), was baptised on 22 Jun 1748 at St Giles in the Wood. She was buried on 31 Oct 1799.

	In memory of DANIEL TANTON by Firing off a Gun it Burst the Breech of which sunk in his Head where it remained 9 weeks on extraction of which He expired y^e 29^th of Jan^Y 1797 aged 17 Years	Daniel TANTON, the son of William TANTON and Elizabeth PEARSE, was baptised at Bideford, Devon on 16 Jul 1779. He was buried at St Giles in the Wood on 31 Jan 1797.

	This Monument by the directions of the undermentioned ANNE ROLLE of Hudscott is erected in the memory of DENYS ROLLE of Stevenstone in this Parish, Esquire who died the 24^th of June 1797 Aged 72 and ANNE, his wife daughter of ARTHUR CHICHESTER of Hall in this County, Esquire who died the 24^th May 1781 Aged 64. ISABELLA HENRIETTA CHARLOTTA ROLLE their eldest daughter, died in the lifetime of her parents, Aged 16 ANNE ROLLE above mentioned, their second daughter, died the 16^th of June 1842 Aged 87 CHRISTIANA PHILIPPA MARIA ROLLE the youngest daughter, died the 3^rd of February 1831, Aged 72 Lucilla ROLLE died the 24^th of July 1851 Aged 94 The Remains of the above, lie interred in the Family Vault in this Church. JOHN, BARON ROLLE, of Stevenstone son of the said DENYS and ANNE ROLLE, and the last male Descendant of the Family died without Issue the 3^rd of April 1842, Aged 92, and was buried in the Family Vault in Bicton Church in the County. LOUISA LADY ROLLE, second wife of the above, died Nov 20^th 1885, Aged 91, and was buried in Bicton Church Yard.	Denys ROLLE was baptised on 19 Jul 1725, St Giles in the Wood, the youngest son of John ROLLE (1679-1730) and Isabella Charlotta WALTER (1687-?). He married Anne CHICHESTER on 22 May 1750 in East Down, Devon. Denys was buried on 1 Jul 1797. Anne CHICHESTER, the daughter of Arthur CHICHESTER (?-1737) and Dorothy ROW was baptised on 4 Oct 1722 in Bishops Tawton, Devon. She was buried at St Giles in the Wood on 29 May 1781, however, the burial entry in the parish register incorrectly identifies her as Anne, wife of Denys Rolle WALTER. Isabella Henrietta Charlotta ROLLE was baptised on 17 Jan 1754 in Chittlehampton, Devon. She was buried on 28 Jun 1770. Anne ROLLE was baptised on 1 May 1755 in East Tytherley, Hampshire. Christiana Philippa Maria ROLLE was buried on 10 Feb 1831. Lucilla ROLLE was baptised on 22 May 1757 in East Tytherley, Hampshire. John ROLLE was baptised on 6 Oct 1751 in Chittlehampton, Devon. He was elevated to the peerage, by letters patent, on 20 Jun 1796 as Baron Rolle of Stevenstone. He married Louisa TREFUSIS on 24 Sep 1822 in Huish, Devon. Lousia TREFUSIS was born on 29 Nov 1796, the daughter of Robert George William TREFUSIS, 16th Lord Clinton and Albertina Marianna GAULIS.

William Snell who departed this Life the 15th of December 1759 in the 85th year of his Age Also the Body of BETSY SNELL Daughter of Mr. Anthony Snell of Cranford in this Parish who departed this life the 21st day of April 1817 Aged 6 months	Possibly Francis SNELL who was buried on 30 May 1755. William SNELL, the son of John SNELL and Tomazine was baptised on 4 May 1675 in St Giles in the Wood. He was buried on 19 Dec 1759. Betsy SNELL, the daughter of Anthony SNELL (1786-1845) and Elizabeth BURDEN (1790-1840) was baptized 6 Nov 1816 in St Giles in the Wood and was buried on 23 April 1817.

	Here lyeth ye Body of John Snell of this Parish, Yeoman who departed this life the 5th Day of Jan. in Anno Dom. 17__ Aetatis suae 72	John SNELL was buried on 9 Jan 1717/8.

	HERE Under these seats Nigh this Place lie the Remains of Thomazin ye Wife of M^r Scipio Luxton of this Parish, who Departed this life the first Day of April 1765 in y^e 55th Year of her Age. ALSO lie y^e Remains of M^r Scipio Luxton of this Parish who Departed this life y^e 24th Day of August 1766 in y^e 82nd Year of his Age AND also y^e Remains of 4 Children of y^e said M^r Scipio and Thomazin Luxton all these laying in two Graves in y^e South Ile.	Thomazin HACKWELL, the daughter of Thomas HACKWELL and Thomazin WEBBER, was baptised on 24 Jan 1710 in Dolton, Devon. She married Scipio LUXTON on 10 Nov 1730 in Dolton. Thomazin was buried on 4 Apr 1765. Scipio LUXTON was buried on 27 Aug 1766. Thomas, the son of Scipio LUXTON and Tomazin HACKWELL was buried on 2 May 1744. Hugh, the son of Scipio LUXTON and Tomazin HACKWELL, was buried on 3 Sep 1745. Catherine, the daughter of Scipio LUXTON and Tomazin HACKWELL, was buried on 29 Aug 1749.

	IN a Sepulchre near this Place lies intered the Body of HENRY HOLE of this Parish Gen^t who Died the 13^th Day of May Anno Dom. 1740, Aged 55 Years. Also of REBEKAH Wife and Relick of the said HENRY HOLE who Died the 13^th Day of Sep. Anno Dom. 1741 Aged 58 Years. Whose Honest, Useful and Virtuous Lives made them both much lamented at their Deaths. And also of REBEKAH their Grandchild and Daughter of HENRY HOLE of EBERLEY, Gen^t and ELIZABETH his Wife. By whom this Monument was Erected. She Died the 13^th Day of May Anno Dom 1738. Aged 10 Months	Henry HOLE, the son of Henry HOLE (1642-?) and Frances, was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 28 Oct 1686. He married Rebekah WELLINGTON, on 27 Apr 1710 at St Giles in the Wood.

	Near this Place lie the remains of Henry Hole of Ebberly, in the Parish of Roborough Gent who departed this Life the 8th of August, 1745 Aged 33 Years Also of Elizabeth Hole his Wife the Daughter and sole Heiress of Bartholomew Berry of Irishborough in the Parish of Swimbridge, Gent who departed this Life the first day of June 1781, Aged 70 Years To whose Memory as worthy and tender Parents this Monument is erected by their affectionate Sons, Henry, William and Peter Hole.	Henry HOLE, the son of Henry HOLE and Rebecca WELLINGTON, was baptised on 16 Jul 1712 in St Giles in the Wood and was buried on 9 Aug 1745. Elizabeth BERRY, the daughter of Bartholomew BERRY and Mary NICHOLS was baptised on 12 Aug 1711 in Swimbridge and was buried on 7 Jun 1781.

	SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF PETER HOLE ESQ OF BIDEFORD WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 7th DECEMBER 1814 AGED 70 YEARS ALSO IN MEMORY OF HENRY HOLE ESQ OF EBBERLY, ROBOROUGH WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 9th OCTOBER 1815 AGED 83 YEARS	Peter HOLE, the son of Henry HOLE (1712-1745) and Elizabeth BERRY (1711-1781), was baptised on 15 May 1744 in Roborough and was buried on 7 Dec 1814. Henry Hole was buried on 9 Oct 1815.

Eleanor de Coplestone was the daughter of John de Coplestone of Colebroke, Devon and Katherine de Graas. She married John Pollard of Way Barton and died on 21 Sep 1430. Joanna Pollard was born about 1547 and died on 17 May 1610. Her father was George Pollard of Langley Barton, High Bickington. Joanna married William Risdon of Winscott and was the mother of Tristram Risdom, author of The Chorographical Description or Survey of the County of Devon. Margaret RISDON, the daughter of Tristram RISDON (abt 1580-1640) of Winscott and Pascall CHAFE, was baptised on 22 Nov 1613 in St Giles in the Wood.

	IN THE LOVE AND TRUST OF GOD THIS TABLET IS GIVEN BY HIS WIFE & CHILDREN IN LOVING MEMORY OF MARK GEORGE KERR ROLLE WHO DIED 27^TH OF APRIL 1907	Mark George Kerr TREFUSIS was born on 13 Nov 1835 in Huish, Devon, the second son of Charles Rodolph TREFUSIS, 19th Lord (Baron) Clinton (1791-1866) and Lady Elizabeth Georgiana KERR (?-1871). In 1842 at the age of six, Mark TREFUSIS inherited the Rolle Estate from his aunt's husband, John, Baron ROLLE. Mark TREFUSIS was required to change his name to ROLLE (which he did by Royal License on 30 Jan 1852), and to live part of each year in the family manor houses, Stevenstone in the North and Bicton in the South. He died in Argelès, France, and is buried in Huish, Devon.

	To the Glory of GOD and in loving memory of GERTRUDE JANE wife of the Hon^ble Mark G.K. Rolle of Stevenstone and Bicton Devon and Daughter of the 19^th Earl of Morton Died 21^st March 1924 Aged 86 This tablet is erected by her two Daughters	Lady Gertrude Jane DOUGLAS was born in 1838 in Edinburgh, Scotland, the daughter of George Sholto DOUGLAS, 17th Earl of Morton (1789-1856) and Frances Theodora ROSE (?-1879). She married Mark George Kerr TREFUSIS on 6 Oct 1860. Their daughters were Gertrude Emily ROLLE (1866-1954) and Mary Frances ROLLE (1871-1945).

Margaret was born about 1525 and died on 30 Jun 1592. Flanking her brass image are the kneeling figures of her daughters, Margerye and Honor, and her sons, Henry, Rychard, Valentyne, Alexander, George, Joachyme, Robert and John. John ROLLE, the son of George ROLLE (abt 1493-1552) and Eleanor DACRES, was born on 15 Dec 1518 in London, Middlesex. He died on 12 Aug 1570. His brass plate bears the arms of Rolle impaling Ford.

	In Loving Memory of JOHN OLIVER CLEMSON, Of Stevenstone, Captain Royal North Devon Hussars Who was killed in action in Gallipoli 9^th December 1915, Aged 33. A great and glorious thing it is to die For one's country.	John Oliver CLEMSON, the son of John Henry CLEMSON, was born in 1882 in Lancashire. In 1912 he purchased Stevenstone House from the 21st Lord (Baron) Clinton who had inherited the manor after the death of the Hon. Mark ROLLE.

	M.S. of Mary the Wife of William Risdon of this Parish Gent: who departed this Life ye 2^d of September, An^o Dom: 16__ AEtatis suae 66^o As allso of Mary y^e Daughter of Joseph Prust Gent. by Mary his Wife who Dyed the 6th of August in the Same year An^o: Aetatis suae 4^o Posuit Gulielmus Risdon, Amantissimus Unius Maritus, Lugens alterius Arius	Mary ISAAC, the daughter of Francis ISAAC (1589-1658) and Grace ROBERTS (? -1653), was buried at St Giles in the Wood on 5 Sep 1691. Her husband, William RISDON (1622-1701), was the son of Tristram RISDON (abt 1580-1640) of Winscott, author of The Chorographical Description or Survey of the County of Devon. William and Mary's granddaughter Mary PRUST, daughter of Joseph PRUST and Mary RISDON (1656- ?) was buried at St Giles in the Wood on 8 Aug 1691.

	Here lyeth the Body of Henry Payne of this parish who departed this Life the 3rd Day of July Anno Domi 1692 AEtatis Suae 71	Henry PAYNE, the son of Humprey PAYNE, was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 1 Aug 1621.

	Here Lieth in hope of a joyfull resurrection (near this place) the Body of John Kiff of this Parish Gent. who was here Buried y^e 1^st day of August 1712 in y^e 70^th year of his age Also Here lieth the Body of Elizabeth the wife of the above John Kiff and Daughter of Henry Holle of Healland in this Par- ish who was here Buried y^e 22^d day of june 1737 in the 85^th y^ear of her age.	John KIFF married Elizabeth HOLE, daughter of Henry and Anne HOLE, at St Giles in the Wood on 18 May 1686. Elizabeth was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 18 Nov 1653.

	Here lyeth in hopes of a joyful Resurrection the Body of john Matcott of this Pr^sh he was buried on the 20^th day of December in the year 1704 Also here lyeth the Body of William Matcott of this Parish he was buried on the 24^th day of October in y^e year 1730 AEtatis Suae 59 And also the Remains of John Matcott of Highbicking- ton who Departed this life ye 3^rd day of February 1767 Aged 86	William MATCOTT, the son of John MATCOTT and Grace GUBINGS, was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 26 Mar 1672. John MATCOTT, the son of John MATCOTT and Grace GUBINGS, was baptised at St Giles in the Wood on 8 Dec 1680, and was buried there on 7 Feb 1767.
