This is the last Will and Testament of me John Loveband of Yarnscombe in the County of Devon Yeoman First I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Loveband his Exors Admors and Assigns my Estate called East Greylake situated in Yarnscombe aforesaid during all my Estate T____ and Interest therein and also the sum of six hundred Pounds also I give unto each of Nephews Lewis Cawey, John Cawsey and Robert Cawsey the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto my Niece Sarah the wife of Robert Chichester Clerk the sum of fifty pounds also I give unto my Brother Anthony Loveband the sum of five pounds also I give unto my Neice Mary the Mary the Wife of William Langdon Daughter of the said Anthony Loveband the sum of one hundred pounds and to her Sister Catherine the Wife of _____ Fulford the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto my Niece Sarah the wife of George Crocker the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto each of my Nephews John Gay Matthew Loveband Gay and Thomas Gay the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto my Niece Sarah Chick the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto each of my Nieces Jane Gay and Elizabeth Gay the sum of fifty pounds also I give unto each of my Nephews Richard Kelland and Phillip Kelland the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto my Brother William Loveband the sum of twenty Pounds also I give unto each of my nieces Florence and Mary Loveband the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto my Niece Sarah the Wife of John Dunn the sum of one hundred pounds also I give unto my Sister Sarah Thorne Widow the sum of twenty pounds and to each of her daughters Mary the Wife of William Walter Sarah Joce Widow Maria the Wife of Richard Crang and Jane the Wife of Edward Hammond the sum of fifty pounds also I give unto my Nephew George Thorne the sum of one hundred Pounds In Trust and for the benefit of my Niece Priscilla the Daughter of my said Sister Sarah Thorne and to be paid and applied for her use in such manner as the said George Thorne shall in his discretion think fit also I give unto my Servant Mary Frayn if living with me at the time of my decease the sum of thirty pounds to be paid her in one Month next after my decease also my Bed in the Parlour Chamber with all the Furniture and Bedding thereunto belonging also I give unto the said Mary Frayne if living with me at the time of my decease one Annuity or clear yearly sum of five pounds to be paid her during her natural life by my Executor hereinafter named by equal quarterly payments or weekly if her occasions shall so require and I do charge the residue of my property hereinafter mentioned with the payment thereof also I give unto John Pope the son of my Niece Sarah Pope the sum of twenty pounds also I given unto my Niece Ann the Wife of John Thorne of Winkleigh the sum of fifty pounds also I give unto each of the Children of Richard Delbridge of Atherington in the said County Yeoman as shall be living at the time of my decease the sum of twenty Pounds also I give one years Interest of all Debts which may be to me at the time of my decease from any of my Relatives to such of my Relations as may be so indebted to me all whole Legacies before mentioned I will and direct to be paid in lawful Money of and Current in Great Britain and (except where otherwise directed by this my Will) within twelve Months next after my decease also I give the sum of five Pounds to be distributed amougst such poor persons of the parish of Yarnscombe aforesaid and in such proportions as my Executor shall think fit and my will is that my body be carried to the Grave by sixteen labouring Men of the Parish of Yarnscombe aforesaid to be selected by my said Executor to each of whon I give the sum of two Shillings and sixpence and a pair of Gloves and the rest and residue of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever subject to the payment of my just Debts and Funeral Expences I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Anthony Loveband his Exors Admors and Assigns and do hereby nominate and appoint the said Anthony Loveband sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said John Loveband the Testator have to this my Will contained in two sheets of paper to the first sheet set my hand and to the second sheet my hand and seal the twenty first day of June one thousand eight hundred and sixteen. Proved at London 8th Septr 1818 before the Judge by the Oath of Anthony Loveband the Nephew the sole Exor to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn (by _____ ) duly to Administer.

John LOVEBAND, the son of Matthew LOVEBAND (1701-1762) and Sarah PETHEBRIDGE (1704-1788), was baptised at Yarnscombe, Devon on 5 Dec 1744. He never married. John died at Yarnscombe on 9 May 1818 and was buried at Yarnscombe on 13 May 1818.
