"Early Obituaries and Death Notices of Van Zandt County, Vol. I, 1874-1900" transcribed and typed by members of the society and compiled by Sibyl Creasey, this book contains obituaries and death notices from 1874 to 1900. There are only three obituaries from 1874 and were for Milo Manning, an early pioneer. Those few from 1878 were re-published in 1900 by the Wills Point Chronicle. From 1884 to 1900, the obituaries and death notices were taken from those old newspapers that survived to be microfilmed and the rolls are housed in the Van Zandt County Library of Genealogy and Local History located in the court house annex in Canton. Not all newspapers of that period survived to be microfilmed. Some issues in the earlier years are missing as well as some pages. Some obituaries are long and flowery but charming to read. Death notices might be a line or two taken from the community news columns. The book is soft-cover and contains 255 pages with surname index. (Won third place for excellence from the Texas State Genealogical Society)

Ministers of Van Zandt County, Texas - Pastors, Preachers, and Officiants of Weddings and Funerals, Vol. 1 A - L encompasses more than just the pastors of church in the county.
