The following is a few articles from the Canton Hearld of 1889-1900 published in the 1940's. Citizens of the county, especially around the Canton area, are mentioned. These tidbits give some indication of what life was for our ancestors back in Old Van Zandt County. The dramatic photo that we are using to head this page is one that is in a photo collection owned by Milda Mason of Alton, New Mexico. It is entitled "Dust Storm Coming!" Dust storms were common in this area back in the old days. We thank Milda for allowing us to use this wonderful photo.
