The Van Zandt County Genealogical Research Group supports the Texas Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB) for its committment to preserving Texas historical records that are at risk because of a lack of awareness of the importance of records, rapid technological changes that render electronic records obsolete, lask of proper facilities or professional expertise, deterioration or loss through neglect and improper storage, and indifference of their historcal and intrinsic value.
The board was established in 1976 and is composed of nine members. Members are appointed by the Governor and the State Librarian. The board's activities are coordinated by the Texas State Archivist.
