The Southland Newspaper is a valuable resource for researchers. It was established in March 1892 in Waco, Texas. Its masthead motto was "Devoted to the Culture and Entertainment of the Home." The particular issue relating to Van Zandt County was Vol. XII, No. I, and was published ca 1904. It contains biographies of living prominent Van Zandt County people as well as articles and photos. It sold for .10 cents back then and is certainly worth more than that today to family history researchers! We have not only transcribed the biographies and articles for easier reading but have scanned them from the original newspaper for those who would like to download them and add them to their collection. If you have any questions about this newspaper or any of the articles, just contact Sibyl and we will try to help you.
