2009 Projects

As a member of the Children of the Confederacy, you have many responsibilities.  The most important one of which is meeting the objectives of the organization.  These objectives are educational, memorial, benevolent, patriotic, and historical.

The members meet these objectives through a variety of approaches and one of these  is PROJECTS.  Projects are determined at the beginning of each CofC year at the General, Division, and Chapter levels.

Some examples of the projects are: adopting Confederate markers, remembering Real Daughters of the Confederacy with cards and gifts, identifying and marking Confederate graves, supporting American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, collecting canned goods for church pantries, collecting stuffed animals and toys and donating them to local fire stations for families displaced by fire, and much more.

The Lee's Traveller Chapter participates in monthly projects.

The Chapter has been busy!  Take a look at the projects for the CofC year 2008-2009 so far...

Our April project is a Memorial Service to be held at the Confederate Powder Mill Marker in Spring Creek Park in Tomball.

Our March project is providing refreshments at the Oran M. Roberts UDC monthly meeting held at Clayton Library in Houston.

Our February project is remembering our Real Daughters in Texas with Valentine cards and a gift of $5 for each.  The members will sign cards and mail them to the Real Daughters living in Texas.  The members will remember Real Daughters in other states as well with a Valentine card.

Our January project is making Valentine cards for Operation Cup of Love.  Operation Cup of Love was founded by one of our very own members, Miss Lauren Ewest. Lauren and the rest of her family live in Germany where her father is stationed in the Army.  Lauren distributes cups filled with hot chocolate mix, sweets, and handwritten notes to troops preparing to deploy and those who have been injured.  She distributes often and asked for our help with handmade cards.  The members of Lee's Traveller will be making and mailing these cards in January so Lauren will have them in time for her Valentine distribution.
