We are a new chapter, Lee's
Traveller Chapter.
We are being sponsored by the Robert E. Lee Chapter
of the United Daughters of the Confederacy® (UDC).
Our first meeting was held on June 8, 2008 in The
Woodlands, Texas. Several of our members have
been in another chapter of the Children of the
Confederacy® (CofC) and have now transferred to our
new chapter. We also have several new members
who have just joined the CofC. We welcome any
prospective members who wish to learn more about
their Southern Heritage, pay respect to and honor
their Southern Ancestors, and just get together for
fun. See
membership requirements for
eligibility.
Our chapter was named after
Robert E. Lee's horse whose name was Traveller.
Our meetings are held at
various locations, usually at one of our parents
house. We first begin with our business
meeting where we learn parliamentary procedure of
conducting meetings, discuss upcoming events as well
as previous events we attended, learn something
about our ancestors way of life before, during, and
after the War between the States, then have a bite
to eat before playing. Most of us are younger
than 8 years old but some of us are older.
We really enjoy getting together to learn and have a
good time. Our meetings are usually limited to
30 minutes and the rest of the time is spent playing
together. Our meetings are usually held
monthly on a Sunday
at 2:00 pm.
At the Meeting held on
Sunday, July 20, 2008, the children voted on the
chapter colors and logo, which was drawn by one of
the members. The gifted and talented artist
drew a picture of Traveller and presented the
drawings in various colors.
A vote was taken on the
logo and colors and the children chose Traveller,
draped with a red and white cloth with gold as the
background color. The Website colors were chosen
with background colors of gray with red lettering.
