This is my great-grandfather William G. "Bill" Hendrick who was quite hard headed, but would do anything for his family to survive. He was a farmer, butcher, and self employed at everything! He had a small ice cream business in Handley that he would drive his mule pulled wagon around Handley and vend out of. He sold vegatables during the spring and summer as well ice cream. He grew all of his own food. The mule is Ole Tess. He survived the Depression working out of this wagon by making and selling his own ice cream. Photo is from about 1935. He died in 1943. |
