Researched by Rita Martin and compiled by Barbara Knox

Dr. Taylor died of a heart attack at the close of an honorary tribute by the Tarrant County Medical Society at a "Flowers for the Living" banquet. Services will be on Saturday, Robertson-Mueller-Harper Temple, Rev. Warren Johnston conducting, with burial in Marshall, Texas.

Dr. W. B. Russ of San Antonio, principal speaker, had said, "The story of Holman Taylor is the story of the Texas Medical Association. Organized medicine in Texas owes more to Holman Taylor than to any other man, living or dead."

Holman Taylor was born April 8, 1874 in Hallsville, Harrison County, Texas, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Taylor. His grandfather, Col. James F. Taylor, was a member of the Senate of the Republic of Texas.

After his graduation in 1899 from the University of Texas Medical School, he first practiced medicine with his father in Marshall, and came to Fort Worth in 1910 as executive secretary of the Texas Medical Association and editor of the Texas State Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Taylor had suffered two heart attacks prior to the fatal one. He called an attack four years ago his "coronary conclusion." Survivors include his widow, a son, Dr. Holman Taylor, Jr., two sisters, Mrs. E. B. Hayes of Marshall and Mrs. R. Y. Walker of Oklahoma City.
