SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Maurine Swint 1921-2000 Ila Maurine Swint, a resident of Scurry County since 1951, died Friday, July 14, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral service for Mrs. Swint, 78, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Born Sept. 4, 1921 in the Concord Community near Omaha, Tex., she married Robert L. Swint on July 3, 1941 in Texarkana, Ark. He died Nov. 29, 1994. During World War II, the Swints resided in Brownwood, Florida and Massachusetts. In 1946 Mr. Swint returned from World War II where he served with the 36th Infantry Division in Europe. The Swints made their home in Abilene where she was an active member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, teaching in the primary department. The Swints returned to Scurry County in 1951 to begin stock farming near Hermleigh. They also farmed near the Pleasant Hill and Plainview communities in Scurry County. She previously was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Hermleigh where she also worked in the youth department. She was a member of Snyder’s First Baptist Church and Rita Carter’s Sunday School Class. Mrs. Swint was also a longtime member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Franklin and Susie Mae Baker Talley; and two brothers, Cluron and Buel Talley. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Allene and Jim McCright of Snyder; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Euel Talley of Snyder and Winn and Billy Talley of Cleburne; two nephews and their wives, Robert and Jackie Talley of Paint Rock and Ron and Belinda Talley of Burleson; a niece and her husband, Marsha and Pete Thauwauld of Waco; three great-nephews, Jason Taylor and Nathan and Bob Talley; three great-nieces, Ashley Taylor and Susan and Lynnette Talley.
